As a pretty experienced costume maker / cosplayer I really appreciate this video. People often don’t realise that making the pieces aesthetically look good is only really half the work. All those things you realise and don’t generally think about or don’t present themselves as issues when you’re just trying it on at home, which end up becoming quite hindering during the day. Things like legs sagging, ventilation issues, eyes not being as practical as you’d hoped. Most costumes are constant works in progress and it’s great to see it here.

These details added so much to this build 👍 good job team Odin! If Joe struggles to see through the lenses, you to try to use a tinted vinyl for cars, it makes it a little darker but really helps keeping the light and reflections away.. easy to mount with soap water.. I use a thin lexan plate with the vinyl on for my Kylo Ren helmet and it turned out so well 😊

With the air flow/ shorter arms and strapping upgrades the cosplay will definitely be more comfortable for joe and for other builders to make there own version of the build. Excellent work from both of you with this. And now ODIN can use some if these upgrades for his own mechagodzilla i.e. the air flow system for the neck or helmet he will be wearing under the mechagodzilla head so he dose not cook himself. As always when are you doing the guyver units in there storage case idea? With then in there cryo storage case anyone could be at the con as a zoanoid. Loving the build as all ways. Stay safe all.

I might do the shield. Right now the shield is too heavy to carry outside a short photoshoot. So unless I get stronger (finally started going to the gym again), or we rig the arm to support the weight, it’s only really going to be a display piece. I could definitely have some fun with the weathering though!

You actually don't necessarily need to put a special saw blade into a standard table saw to cut acrylic. I've had good results with a regular blade and doing multiple passes over it while increasing the blade height a little each time. Adding some masking/painter's tape to the underside may also help with the tear out/chipping too.
@OdinMakes
3 жыл бұрын
Also the regular wood saw if you hit it with the saw lifted all the way up, reducing the amount of angle the blade is cutting, that reduces the chipping that happens with acrylic.

I just found your video series. Too notch work Odin. Great technique. There’s a lot of great ideas here. One question though, is it to scale of an actual gundam? Not 1:1 of course…, but are all the components scaled identical of each other to the same size? The whole suit looks great but the scaling looks as if it’s a gundam, but as a child. I started to make a strike freedom gundam many years ago, with that in mind, and realized something. I would have to walk on stilts and use mechanical extensions off my fingers to make the hands work. As the forarms and legs are very long relative to a human’s body. It would be super cool to see you make those modifications to this suit.
