Tribhanga means ‘three bends’. The dancers body is divided into 3 sections bend in opposite directions. This is an asymmetrical stance, with one leg supporting the whole weight. The torso is deflected to the side and the head is tilted.
Each step helps the dancers develop a different skill set. Tribhangi 1 focuses on developing strength and stability in the posture while maintaining the structural framework of Tribhangi.
