Thanks for sharing, however OEX deserves a bit more credit. I'm 6ft 1 and still able to extends legs. My friend is 5ft 11 cm and he loved mine so much, he also bought it. If you do the guy ropes at the back the loose internal fabric tightens and isn't as bad as you make it out to be. My main reasons for purchase was: porch is great size for all my kit and more when bagging Munro. Colour is more discrete than other tents, when put up correctly, it provides a nice comfortable space. The inner net is great for keeping midges out, and the porch space is great for getting dressed, putting boots on and rolling up sleeping bags etc when it's pouring down or boggy ground. Anyway, thanls for the video but this OEX is a great buy. I even sold my Geertop after purchasing and using 7 times now, including a summit camp. Great tent!!!

Hi Liam, Fair enough - Stuart with the Scottish Wanderer channel is the same height as you and he seems to fit in it too. For balance, I shall pin your comment. I like a discreet colour when it comes to my tent too. I don't mind clothes in bright colours, but I like a tent to blend in. At the moment I have a Onetigris Tangram which is okay, but the inner needs some modifications to reduce sagging.

Cheers for that Andy. Very useful and answered all the questions I was asking myself about the tent. More useful that it was compared next to the Berghaus as well. From what you’ve shown of the inner size I now won’t be getting the Bobcat. Saved me some cash there. Thanks for taking the time to do that and posting it. Cheers! Gordon

Bit late for jumping in on the comments on this one I know, however I have just brought the Bobcat 1 today, after watching another review on this platform. Pitched mine in my garden first also, and I must say I’m very impressed with it. I personally think the sleeping area is the perfect size for anyone upto 6ft tall, I wouldn’t describe it as small though, more cosy but in a good way. It should also be warm in that space when the temp drops down to freezing point … Great sized porch/vestibule too, and I prefer the ground sheet in there also as opposed to not having one, as you can sit on it while making hot drinks/food under cover (if raining) like you say, just by using a pair of walking poles! All in all, I’m very pleased with my new purchase and look forward to using out in the wild! I also have a Mountain Warehouse Dome-2 tent for when I need some extra room on multi-day trips.. This also is a great bit of kit for the low price tag (got mine on offer) of £64, it usually retails for £129. Perfect pair of tents for myself and my needs, and at a total combined cost of only £155. Theirs no way in the world I’d spend £300+ on any single tent, or even triple that even - in the case of the Hillebergs!!

Not too late at all! I've actually changed my views on the vestibule ground sheet as I think it helps keep condensation down that may occur from moisture in the ground.

Hey brother, great review of this tent. I just got one in conjunction with the expedition tarp and it will be my bicycle touring tent and my canoe travel and camping adventures. I got a compressor sack for the tent and tarp to reduce the footprint inside of the back pack and as soon as I get the tent i will be doing an hover night with it and testing it out. If everything goes well as am expecting to go this will be my tent for my bicycle touring next year

It's a real trade-off, I've deliberated over both as being about the best for my needs, but in the end I went for the Bobcat. I actually like the porch groundsheet, the colour is subtler, I'm 5'6" so the sleep area is fine, and I got a good deal saving over £60 by comparison.

I've actually come to see the advantages of a ground sheet, even though it's something else to get dirty. I think they can help to keep condensation down. And the colour is still far better than bright red. It is a trade off - I hope the video was of some use for you, and I hope you enjoy many nights in the bobcat.

@@dogblackprincehoney yes, they are a touch heavy. I just recently got the Onetigris Tangram, which is like a take on the lanshan 2 but in a subtle colour. I'm hoping they do a version of the lanshan 1 in the same colour.

Hi NijaGecko, There is no toggle from the inner to the back of the tent other than the ones at the base. If the back of the tent had been touching the inner I'd have guyed both tents out for a more true idea. I should have mentioned that in the video, but I'm a total amateur at the whole video thing.

this is almost a total copy of the North Ridge Col tent...both OEX and North Ridge are own brands of Go Outdoor. Also both Berghaus and Go Outdoors belongs to JD Sports. I also own the Berghaus tent which i used for wild camping doing the LEJOG in 2018. I'm 6'2" and fitted in the Berghaus tent.
@AndyMacaskill
4 жыл бұрын
Indeed. Although the North Ridge col tent is more the shape of the berghaus as far as I understand, and the inner from the berghaus will fit in the North Ridge. I'd hoped to fit the berghaus inner into the Bobcat, but due to the back of the bobcat being like a ski slope and the peak being a bit higher, it isn't a good fit at all.
@andyc3088
4 жыл бұрын
@@AndyMacaskill i'll have to try that, however, the inner to that berghaus tent is wider at one end unlike the col tent so it may not be able to do so?

@@andyc3088 I'm led to believe that it is a good fit. Someone might have said they've done it in the comments here. Or it might be worth looking for a video on KZitem. It's a shame the berghaus isn't available in a natural colour like sand or olive - that would be problem sorted.

wow, thats weird....... i actually own the North Ridge col-1 ( which is almost identical to the Bobcat )....and also own the berghaus peak 3.1....... the inner from the berghaus peak 3.1 actually fits inside the north ridge col-1.......giving it a lot of extra bedroom space........would be great if you could try the same........... fitting the the inner from the berghaus......into the outer of the bobcat
@AndyMacaskill
4 жыл бұрын
This is really why I got it. I'm not a fan of colours that stick out on the hill, so when I saw the bobcat was supposed to be olive, I figured it would be great with the 3.1 inner. It doesn't really fit. The bobcat is taller and has that slope thing going on at the back. So even if you made extra long toggles to account for the height difference, the back of the bobcat outer is up against the 3.1 inner. I tried it guyed out, but that didn't make much difference either.
@mattlast4093

@@AndyMacaskill yeah, assuming the bobcat has the same 7 ( i think ) hanging points plus the corner points too, it should fit, it wont be an exact fit, but way better than the inner of the bobcat /NR col-1

Hi Ollie, I'd recommend it for someone of slight build, although I can only give my initial thoughts - I've not tested it out in heavy weather. If you are the same kind of build as myself, which I would describe as average for a caucasian, then it will be too small. Hope this helps.

You're talking shite mate ! First of all unusable space are you really that daft or only about 3 ft tall. You also when comparing the Berghaus did'nt place the sleep mat in the same position, right up against the inner wall, or it would be obvious that there is even less head room when lying down then the Bobcat which you conveniently did'nt fully peg out. I'm 6ft 1 " , with a 43" chest and I can comfortably lie down, and sit up right, in the Bobcat without the sides touching me, and the Bobcat has far bigger vestibule for your gear.
