The Phoxx 1v2!!! Another excellent review. will be good to see how this one stands up against the Vango Cairngorm tent in time.

Hello Samson, thanks for the comment. If it's an all-rounder tent that you're looking for, I'd go with a 2 man tent, primarily because you can store extra gear inside on larger exertions and have a more comfortable nights sleep. I think the oex phox 2v2 is a decent lightweight option however its price has gone up recently so you might struggle to find it for around the £50 mark right now. You may also want to check out the Coleman Darwin on Amazon or the Vango Soul. However, these tents will be heavier. If youre thinking of using the tent for many future expeditions, i would spend a little more money on a vango cairngorm or vango banshee. These are lightweight, well built and are well worth the money. Hope this helps.

👍 Nice review Justin. Found this tent in Go Outdoors today for £49.50, after looking around for a lightweight, good value 1 man-er, and your video was the deciding factor! All i needed to know, and more. Cheers 😀

Thanks for the kind comment and im glad you found the video useful. Id say its the best lightweight 1 man tent for those on a budget. I'm aiming to have a campout this friday night (weather permitting) and will be using the tent. temp will be around 2 degrees so will be interesting to see how its small size holds the warmth. Ill make a video on it

I just tried putting this up, and found that at the foot of the tent, it was almost impossible to get the material loose enough to insert the pole (even with the adjustment strap fully extended). it seems like there's too much tension to get it evenly stretched, and it looks wonky. Did you find this at all when pitching?
@jboutdoors8165

It's funny you say this. Me and a mate were saying how difficult it is to fit the smaller pole a couple weeks ago. I don't think I mentioned this in my video, but I ended up taking 10mm off each end to make the pole smaller by 20mm. This gives enough room to fit the pole quickly and easily and still keeps the fabric taught. It's really easy to do, just untie the elastic from one end and cut the tips off square. I'll probably end up doing this to my mates phoxx1v2 too. Without doing this, like you probably already know, it feels like you're about to tear the fabric by forcing the pole to fit.

@@jboutdoors8165 Thanks for the reply thats very vindicating! I thought I was stupid lol. How did you cut the metal? Did you saw it off right at the ends? wouldnt you then lose the thread for the screw? did you tie the elastic back on somehow afterwards? It's bizarre how they didn't notice this in testing stages...thanks :)

Tip for pitching; set up the tent in good weather before you go, attach the inner to the outer and then pack it away again. When you come to pitch proper, it all goes up as one and in less than a minute!
@stewartlancaster6155

How does that work with the 2 internal poles ?
@leestockton9367

@@stewartlancaster6155 quite easy with the poles being at either end and easily accessible, along with the poles sliding through the tunnels with ease; slip the poles through the tunnels into the eyelets of the groundsheet, peg out the guy ropes and the tent is pitched in under a minute

Have used it several times now. Held up fine in strong gusts. Did have condensation inside the flysheet on a cold night 5°c, which isn't surprising. The most prominent aspect is the size. Very small inside, good if you're a minimalist camper under 6 foot, but over 6 foot and with a 60l backpack, you're going to struggle for space unless you keep the backpack outside. Honestly, with the UKs unpredictable weather, I'd go with a 2 man tent, the extra weight is worth being able to sit upright, keep everything inside, getting changed, sorting out meals, arranging gear, packing up sleeping bags [all in the dry]. I'll be using this tent in dry weather, or on 1-3 night camps. Hope this helps :)
