I use the Phoxx 2v.2 mainly for coastal wild camping. It's perfect. It's a good colour, fairly low profile and has good weather resistance and for one person, more than adequate space inside. I can get my 88ltr rucksack inside, and still plenty of room for my sleep space. I'm 5'9" and can just sit up in it. It works well for me. I have done a few none destructive mods to make it better, including the attached flysheet. I modified the door loops by attaching some plastic rings for the toggles to go through, as I found they either came adrift or tangled, making them difficult to release. For the price, the Phoxx 2v.2 is excellent value and is a good contender against some at double the price. (imo).

I agree that it offers some really strong points for its price, and is nice and discrete to boot. Second hand for £40-£50 they surely represent one of the cheapest, genuinely viable UK wild camping tents money can buy.

Thanks for posting the link to my modification video. I've since modified it, using some 10mm webbing threaded though the pole sleeves, with sideclip fasteners attached. The other side of the clips are tied to the flysheet, using the ties. The flysheet can be easily unclipped for drying purposes. I've also made it so you can leave the poles in the pole sleeves and just fold them up and roll the tent up with the poles inside. It makes life so much easier. I need to make another video when I get time.

Credit where it's due 😊 It sounds as though your mods have evolved nicely! I always keep my poles separate to my tents so that I can compress the tent right down, but ravelling everything up together does make for a tidy bundle! Thanks for your comment 👍 James.

For me the negatives - not great headroom, (I am claustraphic) over 2kgs, (lighter available) lack of vestibule space would not be a tent I would consider - but no everyone is me and I can see it has a lot of plus points as you pointed out. Personally I agree with the review and think this is a great tent for the very low cost, I started out wild camping a few years ago and this was my choice, I now own a few tents including a few Hilleberg's costing 15 times more than the Phoxx 2 but I would never sell it and I often use it and find it very comfortable even though I'm over 6'8".

Yep, I know exactly what you mean! I did put a link in my description for the cheap and simple mod you can perform to make it ALMOST a "pitch as one" affair. Did you watch that? Hi Kai. I think I'd have to say "No". With the inward-sloping walls at each end, and once you're lying on top of your sleep mat and take the height of your sleeping back into consideration, you're always going to end up in contact with the inner tent, and possibly pressing it into the flysheet. I think the outcome would be an uncomfortable night's sleep and a wet sleeping bag (at this time of year).
@mikehooper8868
Жыл бұрын
I'm a true 6'3 and I use this tent I can use my bag as a pillow and stretch my legs it hits the inner flysheet and not the outer if I really stretch out that is, also I can also fit my 5 ft 3 gf in, and we spoon anyway plenty of space no wet sleeping bags unless we get it on.

That would mean that you couldn't separate the flysheet or the inner tent from the poles when you come to pack away, surely? I suppose some people might like that solution? It wouldn't work for the way I pack though. Would make for a very bulky and awkward package I'd have thought.

Everyone speaks good things about this tent but I was quite disappointed when I tested it. The only big problem is the floor, as it is made with a very weak fabric, any protrusion on the ground will be felt and most likely damage the fabric. @@joinmeoutdoors I camp in forests in natural parks and all the tents I've had to date, even the cheapest ones, had a resistant floor, so I didn't even know that weak floors were made.
