When I was in high school we read Of Mice and Men and we had to do a role play scenario where George gets arrested for Lennie's murder and put on trial. I was assigned the role of George and I started laughing when I was on the stand because of the questions the prosecution team was asking me and the fact that my defense team wasn't objecting or doing anything. I got convicted of murder and sentenced to the electric chair.

"Why cause he killed that lady?". Well it was clear that he killed him because he knew Lennie would never understand and always be a danger who would eventually kill more people. He couldn't control himself. Eventually it'd be a child. And we're talking about a time without video cameras or fingerprints or DNA or anything, which means he could very easily get away with murder after murder. In fact, he likely had murdered dozens of people throughout his life. The mouse, puppy and woman, couldn't have been the first.

I can never forget, because I grew up right in the area where they shot snd produced it all. On the north side of Dallas, there’s a big group of towns and cities all mashed in together near I-35. They shot and produced all of it in Grapevine, Plano, Allen, and the Carrollton area. As a small kid, I would see an episode in elementary school(which they showed a ton of since it was local) and lose my shit whenever we drove 10 minutes to the mall and passed a building that was in an episode lol

I remember watching this in 9th grade it really a mix bag of feelings knowning how this book and other good books might get banned in schools one day. We need books like this in public schools lets be real if you went to a big public school you already saw 1000x worst than whatever this book is going to show you. Nick's "reimagining" of Mice and Men where George is a scumbag crook was already written by Stephen King, it's called Blaze. He's even still named George.
