Top tip, the Tatonka Stainless Steel flame adjuster will fit over this meths burner (if you are not using the burner inside the default wind sheild). Can also use a jam jar lid to snuff the flame out as I do not like to remove the o-ring often.

Nice. I was doing a bit of "prep" shopping in one of my local hardware stores last week. They had tins of liquid Menthanol for camping/cooking/ emergency heat, etc. with a 3 .5 hour burn time per tin . They were £2.50 each, so bought their entire stock of a dusty box of 12 tins, I thought it rude not to buy them at that price as they probably won't get anymore looking at the dust on the bulk box.

I just got something like this and I absolutely love it. Mine was a Frankenstein set. I think it was a Swedish M40 Trangia, fuel bottle and windshield, combined with Romanian/Finnish mess tins. It involved a little work with a metal file and hacksaw on the windshield, but after some modding it all slots together perfectly. This kit is lovely for bushcraft and relaxed camp cooking. The Trangia produces just the right amount of heat. Its not terribly slow for boiling, and its gentle enough to actually fry on it (Ive seen some gas cookers that are so aggressive that they just sear the meat onto the bottom of the pan in seconds.). Im still working out how to season the little pan so I can fry in it though. This mess kit really is a special bit of equipment. The design has evolved and improved over the decades, but in one form or another, this style mess kit has been in use with the Swedish army since the 1800s (although I think it started out as a wood burner) Its worth noting that if you run out of fuel, at a push it will burn practically any liquid fuel (although it might eventually clog up the Trangia burner). Its also surpassingly light, with lots of space inside for slipping in packet soups and instant porridge sachets. Just make sure you keep the original fuel bottle in a baggy because it ALWAYS leaks a tiny bit when full. Great video, thank you. Glad you are a fan of this kit.

We've already got too many people around here cooking meth. 😂 But seriously, I love my alcohol stove. But California banned the sale of pure alcohol in the past few years for some environmental reason. So now I need to figure out how to get a couple gallons of alcohol.

@@funkyprepper I actually support the vast majority of the environmental regulations etc that we have in California. But I don't understand the prohibition on the sale of denatured alcohol as used for stripping shellac or for fuel. I also don't understand the requirement that we use a special kind of nozzle on our gas cans that is supposed to reduce vapor leakage or some such. Those things don't work well, are a real pain, and actually cause leakage.
