As someone who lives in a "non-hockey" country (Australia), it is great to watch this video and get a greater understanding of the game.

yes coach u explain the systems very well, Coach one question at the beginning of the video u mentioned the breakout to setup formation, and how as long as u have 3 forwards the other positions don't really matter, so this system could only work on 5v5 or is there a way for it to work on a PK? with a Forward in the box I mean of course lol

Hockey strategies have always been much harder for me to understand than football, which I got basic strategy down right away and still don't understand NHL X's and O's despite watching it almost as long. SO I look for and appreciate videos like this. I think the reason is that in football, all players start from standing still in a set formation and ends with an incomplete pass or tackle. While hockey plays are on the fly, you can't tell where the play "starts" and "ends."

doesn't matter if the pass works out to be a viable option. the point is that it forces the defenseman to make a decision, and drives him back. if that d-man doesn't go with him, it's a breakaway. if he does go with him, you've just opened up space for the strong side winger and centerman

Coach just wondering don't wanna sound stupid but whats the best way as far as when trying to study film or the game on tv,to spot the formations teams are in? ik know like 1-2-2 or 1-3-1 NZT or like 2-3 but a lot of times the formations look the same like when their in the OZ it looks like a 1-2-2 or a 2-1-2 but i only know of defensive 2-1-2 not offensive ones at least when I look them up It only mentions defensive not offensive

Everything looks good, except for that right winger, that maneuver across the center ice would only work in certain situations, it definitely wouldn't wanna be your go-to move, but I guess it all come down to hockey instinct in the end.

Do you know of a great book about field hockey tactics? I like watching KZitem but a book helps me get a more cohesive and extensive knowledge. Thanks.

When I read "offensive attack positions", I expected to see something like a few KKK members arranged in an aggressive stance or something like that. Watching the video was dissapointing to say the least.
