Salinas needs to stick to Division 3. They get away with playing crappy teams all season, and get exposed in the playoffs.

Salinas was Solid for a few years before Covid. Only lost in close games in State and CCS. But for those years I’d say they had the size and speed to compete with high ranked teams like this. Football just hasn’t had the same energy in Monterey County since Covid.

Scored right away? Serra is all you make them out to be, but let's tell it like it was. 1st offensive drive stuffed at goaline with fumble recovery, 2nd turnover on downs, 3rd then they scored. Give Salinas respect the defense came to play, and you guys were panicking for the first 6mins of the game. Dont think the Serra offense has had their asses chewed out like that in a while. But Serra was as advertised. Monsters everywhere on the field. We looked like a youth team compared to Serra. But like a said Salinas came to fight, until they couldn't.

Thank you for mentioning that. We’re only allowed 2:30 of plays or highlights. Would’ve been great to show the usual full game recap. Coach Zenk and his crew runs a solid program. But 27-0 in the first quarter is pretty much equivalent to “scoring right away.” I don’t think the editor got that info actually and assumed Serra scored right away. Padres didn’t struggle. Cowboys came out fighting like you said. Running clock enforced with 7 min left in the second quarter. Salinas didn’t score until late in the fourth vs third teams and freshman players. We did our best to show the highlights of the game. Like the punt Salinas recovered back, their longest play in the first half. And the TD at the end. All the plays you saw were scores. Plays that leads to nothing are meaningless in the time limited sports packages. Unless it’s a spectacular play then yes, you’ll see it to highlight the player. Like a HUGE hit on kickoff or something like that. But a fumbled snap that leads to nothing is meaningless unless the score was tight at the end. There was a Serra blocked punt that was really not as important vs the TD of the player who scored 3X in the game. Didn’t have to show that. There were a couple of sophomores and freshmen who made stops in the second half. Didn’t have to show that. It would’ve been demeaning in a way. There were several drops that would’ve been first downs for the Cowboys. But again, it was meaningless for a highlight reel to include unless it was a very close game. Pretty sure ALL good programs attract players to play for them from freshman on. It’s always the complain we hear. We have looked into it and no there’s really no recruiting. Parents decide where to take their kids. Also, established programs run very good feeder programs and those kids ends up at their local high schools. Pittsburg, Los Gatos, Wilcox, even you guys along with Hollister have the youth programs. So yeah, appreciate you watching. We will do our best to breakdown this game this week and give more details. Congrats on a great season. That #45 is a beast.

Panicking? Idk how anyone watching that game yesterday could say that. QB fumbled the snap on the first drive, second drive not converting a “why would anyone” 4th and 10 and then scoring on the 3rd drive. Be real, that game was over before it started!

@@bjones2366 for sure But there’s still a huge difference between a team that develop kids from freshman to senior VS a team who ends up with star players who are juniors and seniors. They have that HS transfer portal down South. Another big issue is having several above average hold back players. We believe the CCS does a great job on monitoring violators. They do not down south.

I know kids personally pulled from the bay area by MD and SJB. I also know players that were rejected by Serra as a result of their grades. Those same kids ended up down south. Puts plenty into perspective about the programs views on recruiting and the standards set when building their individual teams. These blanket statements don't always apply to every private school. And if your public school isn't up to par, it's very likely the average player there is there for a reason, respectfully.
