True, stuff does break, but you kinda have to expect that approaching half a million KM. I just moved from Niagara Falls Ont, to Regina Sask, and took the route north of Lake Superior, its like 3 days straight of all mountains, 15-18 hour days, every other trip i had a load north of 10000lbs including trailer, stuff gets hot when you're running that long, and still, I had very minimal issues. A front wheel bearing, did the brakes once, and blew a tire on the truck, and a few trailer tires. Not bad for a 15 year old truck really.

Hey kyle! if you want to know my theory, number 6 cylinder got too hot overtime causing the rod bolt to stretch enough for bearing clearances to self destruct. the 6.7 has a common issue with number 6 getting hot because the coolant intake flows from the from of the front of block then exits back out the front on the other side, however there is no directional flow it's just suppoed to make it to the rear somehow and then come back around, well as you are learning it doesn't do that very well. Look into the Fleece coolant bypass system for the rebuild! its a motherFer to put that thing on with the engine in the car but a necessary upgrade for any tuned Cummins, i was surprised you didn't have one already. ALSO delete that stupid grid heater! and get a delete plate or one day you will suck a nut into number 6 and be back here all over again. Cheers and good luck!
@commonsenseisdeadin2024
2 ай бұрын
My guess is that it was a bad previous rebuild and they didn't bother checking bearing clearances! They probably ordered factory bearings and the crank was ground! The bolt was probably loose because it was getting hammered out! The reason only 1 was is the C shape design caps.
@Addison0526
2 ай бұрын
That’s always a good guess if it’s the back cylinder that’s the issue of any longitudinal setup. Retains heat in the back of the engine bay and usually coolant routing doesn’t favor it.

For those engines they sell a piece that goes on the back of cylinder #6 removing the water seal and what the piece does is that it helps cool that water that remains so far back and never gets completely cold. This part has a tube that reaches the front intake and carries the water from the back to the radiator more efficiently. ✌🏼 Take care boys!
