Good old Oh Mummy! Initially was one of the games included when you bought a amstrad 464 in the UK. Probably the best of the "launch" titles as well. Alas i didnt get the game untill much later but i did play it to death.
Basicly a really good pacman clone but instead of picking up pills you leave footsteps behind. Not exactly a new idea as there was already plenty of arcade "brush-around" games like Rollo or Qix. Still quite a unique touch with leaving the footprints around the dusty tombs. The cover of the tape is also quite funny showing a mummy catching 2 people inside a tomb.
I think we all know the pacman gameplay & just like in pacman this game can make me so mad when getting cought from making a failed turn on the joystick. Using a 360 stick here & it get my blood boiling with all the mistakes i make :D
The trick to stay alive is twofold: 1. always use your scroll and 2. remember that you (usually) get a life at the end of a "pyramid". Each new "level" of a pyramid spawn 1 extra mummy & each level usually also spawn a guardian mummy so you can quickly end up in troubles. Keeping the number of mummies Down is importent & this is where the Scroll comes into play as it kills 1 mummy on the level .. alas at a small points cost. If you are Lucky you can even get key+tomb+scroll leave the the level before activating the guardian mummy. Getting killed also consumes a mummy .. not saying that you should kill yoursleves of cause but .. uh.. do keep in mind that you get a extra team-member at the end so "taking one for the team" makes the game easier.
Audio: quite catchy but its good there is a option to turn it off in the long run.
Graphics: Lovely mode 0 bright colour & not bad for one of the very first amstrad games ever made.
