I asked my dermatologist about treatments for cellulite and she scoffed and said “what’s there to treat? It’s normal.” When I asked about injections, she said “women are scarring their legs with those needles to temporarily decrease the appearance of something beautiful and natural. I refuse to do those kinds of things.” It changed my outlook a lot.

I have this weird obsession with my stretch marks, not in a negative way either I just think they are so fucking beautiful. They remind me of how amazing the female body is and the things it can do. I’ve had them since before I had my son too, I have always associated them with growth and as I got older I just loved them more with time. I’ve never been ashamed of my cellulite but I’ve also never really felt the love I have for my stretch marks(I personally call them my stretchies cause I think it’s sounds cute just like my stretch marks) and I kind of want to feel the same way about my cellulite because it’s just another aspect of myself I get to love.

My cellulite was pointed out to me at 15 years old, by a family member, and it truly scarred me. When I was 24 I was dating a man 32 years my senior. Very regrettable. I had just come out of the shower wrapped in a towel and he poked me in the side of my leg and told me I had a bit of cellulite there. I was mortified and furious at the same time. Judging only by the look on my face continued with "Oh, why are you getting so upset. It's easy enough to get rid of!". What I learned from that was there are men who would teach us to hate our bodies in order to control us. I've avoided men like that ever since and I'm glad I learned the lesson early. You forgot to mention WHY cellulite occurs in women far more than men. *Cellulite is a secondary sex characteristic.* Men and women have different skin structure (X vs I I). Women also tend to store more fat in the bum and thighs. The female skin structure allows more room for fat cells to increase in size between the connective tissue as the tissue remains the same length, tugging inwards and creating dimples. Losing weight can minimise its appearance, but this isn't guaranteed as we cannot spot reduce fat. In other words, it's up to genetics where we store and lose fat, so if you're bottom-heavy, you'll probably always have cellulite. Also, a lot of people confuse stretch marks with cellulite. "Treatments" (i.e. cosmetic surgery) for stretch marks are different to those for cellulite. I have little to no cellulite and a lot of light stretch marks, but when I move around, they can look like cellulite.
@mistypedhi
10 ай бұрын
To put it short, men have thicker skin and they also require less essential fat compared to women. That is why it is healthy for a man to have visible abs but it is not healthy for a woman to have visible abs.
@RR-kp5ps
10 ай бұрын
@@mistypedhi As I said, where people store and lose fat is down to genetics. Some women don't have as many fat cells around their abs as other women or they may lose fat there first, making it easier for them to build abs. As long as they are at a healthy bodyfat percentage necessary for normal menstrual cycle, visible abs on women is not necessarily unhealthy as it is only subcutaneous fat that is reduced. It is excess visceral fat that is unhealthy.

Yes! And that connective tissue the fat is pushing through is our fascia. The more tangled up the fascia the more cellulite. If we address the fascia we can actually greatly reduce cellulite. What’s interesting though is that there are also a host of other health benefits that come along with treating the fascia and getting in its most healthy state ☺️

Biggest lesson I learnt: I had cellulite despite strength workout and low body fat. I even had cellulite during the time I had a restrictive eating disorder. After recovering, still cellulite. I hated mine but everyone has them. I didn't have them as a teenager and not as a young adult but now I've gained the last of the healthy weight I needed as I've fully matured. Even my mom has it and she complained so much when I was growing up but I always said I never noticed it because it's so normal and that she's still beautiful. Honestly all the women I saw on the beach on the vacation were so pretty and ALL had cellulite. We're so brainwashed by social media because we look on our screens more than real life so the new "normal" for us becomes super warped and different hence we now have more body dysmophia than ever and the need to change our appearances. We as a society need to work as a community to stop judging and falling for fake Photoshop.
@anjah8249

By the way: the main reason for cellulite is the way our fat and connective tissue arranged. It is different for women and men, hence men usually don't have cellulite but 90% of women. That also explains why, no matter what you do, you won't get rid of your cellulite, even though some things might help a little bit.

There are real issues out there in the world, people starving, dying, getting sick, getting traficked, etc, etc and yet some of us are out here worrying about dumb shit like that. Myself included! For years and years. But as I said, once some real, earth-shattering problems happen in your life - god forbid - you don't even remember if you have cellulite or not, or other look-related issues. We should stop looking for stuff to be troubled about and enjoy what we do have.

Thank you! We women are all beautiful just the way we are! So tired of the constant critique of our bodies to the point we start hating ourselves. Time to embrace our bodies, cellulite, stretch marks and all we as women are so unique and beautiful

Stephanie, i farking love you ❤. From me AND my cellulite. BTW: Ashley Graham, I'm 99% sure, was named FHM magazine sexiest woman in the world recently! Far cry from the 1990's and the 'heroin chic' Kate Moss eh. So much is cyclical, just glad beehives and bustles aren't on the list. 😊 Great video, as per usual.

Stephanie, you have been making me comfortable in my own skin for almost a decade now. I found you when I needed you most. You make your videos about hooded eyes and your skin at the time that I was struggling with acne and noticing my hooded eyes for the first time. You are beautiful inside and out and I really admire you for the message you spread. I swear we’re on the same wavelength because your videos are always about my deepest insecurities. Thank you for helping me love myself!

What brings me comfort is remembering that 🌈 NOBODY CARES 🌈 No, seriously WE ARE OUR OWN WORST ENEMY. Only we can see the "flaws" NOBODY ELSE SEES THEM. So the next time you start worrying abt this or that remember that you are the only person who notices those things. Nobody else does!

I’ve had cellulite and hip dips since puberty and I didn’t wear shorts or short skirts until my early 20s because of how self conscious I was. Once I hit 25ish, I completely stopped caring. I realized that even my thinnest friends have cellulite and hip dips and there’s nothing wrong about it. Now I even LIKE my hip dips and I really don’t care about my cellulite at all. And I live in Miami, one of the most image conscious cities in the US (I think). I hope we all can come to this realization.

I love this, as a fit, middle-aged woman whose cellulite first appeared at age 14. However, I will say that I am continually amazed at how many women - of all ages - do NOT have any cellulite, as I had always heard the whole "90% of women have it" thing. I moved to the South nearly a decade ago, where short-shorts are the norm, so I've had the opportunity to see a lot of legs and it's truly mind-blowing to see all the flawless skin. How do they do it? Must be good genes.

Thank you for a video on this topic, Stephanie! I'm pear-shaped and got cellulite and stretch marks the second puberty hit me. I was (and if I'm honest, still am) ashamed of my cellulite so much, that I would not wear in public any clothes revealing my thighs. I tried workouts that promised to reduce it, creams, wraps, massage machines that promised to get rid of it, and none of those worked, so I felt even better thinking that there's something wrong with me. I felt like I must be just lazy and stupid if with all those remedies out there I still can't solve this problem. Unfortunately, I still have a long way to go because I still don't like my pear-shaped body and hate the way my huge butt and thighs look. But now I at least know that it's not my fault and it doesn't make me any less of a person.

Envy those who don't have it... you mean people without legs or arms? Because cellulite is completely normal. If you didn't have it, something would probably be wrong. Watch the video again and really embrace it, cellulite is nothing to be ashamed of, it is part of being human. Maybe you only listened to her talking about how some influencers show it off, but the video isn't just about that. It's about where the hate for cellulite came from and what it actually is. Don't let those stupid beauty standards get to you, they mean nothing in the big picture. ♡

I like your content and your fresh honesty Stephanie. However, I think there is nothing cool about having cellulite. And yes, a lot of people have it, however out of my 10 friends (all over 50 years), only me and one more women have it. The others have not even a dimple. I always have had cellulite even though I am slim, work out regularly and eat very healthily. It runs in my mums family and it is a matter of your skin elasticity... A lot of my mums friends are overweight and have the strongest, even skin. I have tried all the treatments and gave up, because nothing really helps. So I learned to live with it but I won't show it off because it does not look cool.

Thank you for this video. Even at my skinniest because of family genetics I always had cellulite and always felt bad about it because I could never workout hard enough to get rid of them. Now that I am older I understand that its genetics and its not just going to go away. Also more people then I thought had it too. So embrace and love your body we are all not perfect even the Kardashian are not perfect and they have access to an amazing Plastic surgeon. Live your live and be happy!

I've recently met this guy ( we're just casually talking and hanging out for now ) but while he has been encouraging me to eat healthier and move a little, he's also been making me feel so damn good about my body! Like I was sitting and suddenly noticed my thigh was squishing outwards from my skirt so I immediately tried to hide, but he just poked my cellulite and was like "oh what's that?" then immediately went back to the regularly scheduled program without batting an eye- he just wanted to ask a genuine question. It seriously makes my day every single time because while I'm not overweight, I'm still pretty chubby and definitely do not have the right curves in the right places, but since he's a gym rat he always says I'm super skinny ( since I don't have any muscle mass ), and when I point out to him objectively skinny girls he's like "that's too much, don't try to adhere to those standards"
