My Moskvitch 2140 exhaust disintegrated when I was working in the Middle East in 1981. I wasn't able to source another as the whole dealership had ended trading. A neighbour had brought an exhaust section for his Moskvitch from the UK but said British Airways made a fuss when he tried to put it in the cabin luggage. Eventually I found old iron drainpipe by the roadside, stuck it in the rusted end of manifold pipe and kept it in place with wire, and that worked after a fashion. No silencer, but as long as I kept my foot off the throttle, no-one noticed.

Had a 4 speed in a 70 fastback run out of lube, where the fastest free spinning gear (1st) instantly welded itself to the shaft at 70mph. Ford 302W handled the RPMs no problem. The car rapidly decelerated to around 40, when the front u-joint broke. Fortunately I didn't pole vault, but it wrapped up the exhaust and pulled the tailpipe clean over the diff, changing it's profile just a bit to say the least. After clearing all that mess off of the driveshaft, I changed the u-joint on the side of the road (had a spare) while fortunately traffic built up along the old J&L mills in Pittsburgh PA, on the parkway. Drove a mile off the parkway in walking speed rush hour traffic with no exhaust and stuck in first, with about another 3/4 mile to get home.

We subscribers I'm sure would just be chuffed to see her and not too bothered if she has a shampoo and set. As for the complete fleet it would be interesting to have a mini Hubnut Video Car Show with all cars cleaned (something the the Hublets could help out with maybe), some history about each model and a highlight edit of each one in action on some of the past adventures.
