I am knocked out that this is from 1982!! I knew it was older, it didn't realize it was from 40 years ago. my god. it is such a brilliant and biting indictment-and 40 years ago feels like child's play compared to what we have become today with what this song is talking about. Don Henley is really so smart and so deep. this nails it. I always loved the line-"is the head dead yet?" omg. so many meanings. so crass. so vulgar. so right on target. he sees so clearly who we are. "Life in the fast line" and "hotel California" also live in the same neighborhood as this song. Henley really gets something deep and profound about the worst of our culture. darkness. there is a real darkness. and I love that he is not afraid to talk about how dark we really can be as culture. And then I can hear his gorgeously open-hearted "the heart of the matter" and tears are running down my face at how honest he can be. I am so moved by how true and unafraid he can be. he is really such a brilliant talent and artist. VIVA Don Henley!! the singer. the drummer, the writer, the critic, the hater, the lover, the observer of the best and the worst of who we are as human beings. really amazing. thanks. I liked and subscribed. great channel!

Great song! It's fun to watch the live version too where he has his Eagles cohorts joining him since this song was in his solo career. He says at the beginning of the video that he was dedicating the song to Rupert Murdoch of Fox News - perfect!

This song and Boys of Summer are simply outstanding, and Desperado with the Eagles is awesome as a Don Henley solo. When I was in the Navy in the early 70s I used to listen to a Linda Ronstadt album every night, and her version of Desperado is awesome too, and at the time I wasn't sure if it was her song originally, or the Eagles, but I loved them both. Great reaction Stan! Stan would you please react to Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels singing Devil With the Blue Dress On/Good Gollly Miss Molly? kzitem.info/news/bejne/pW-nyqSkiIB7ZYI 👍👍

He’s actually the drummer. If you’ve seen “Hotel California” video by THE EAGLES, he sings and plays the drums, which you know is quite difficult. If you haven’t done that song, do yourself a favor and do the reaction. He has several collaborations with other singers. “Walkaway Joe” with Trisha Yearwood is so great. And yes, he has one of the most recognizable voices in the music world. “Desperado” is another great Eagles tune that he sings by himself. Great reaction! 😊

Stan the Man, The guitarist on this track was Steve Lukather from TOTO. Don Henley is the drummer for the Eagles, but on this track the late Great Jeff Porcaro also from TOTO played drums. Great channel, thank you!

I 2 ✔ed Wikipedia & Joe Walsh did the 1st solo while Lukather did the 2nd. Both were Johnny Blaze fire though. I was surprised Henley didn't even drum on his own songs. Coulda saved himself some $. Not that Porcaro was bad though.

The song was covered by Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis Presley. I didn't know she wasn't the original singer as the words fit so well with the medias' fascination of both she and her Dad. Great hearing the original; thanks much. Here's Lisa Marie's version: kzitem.info/news/bejne/tZyQmJtmaZGdiqw

Don Henley is the drummer. Try Garden of Allah, a commentary on the OJ Simpson trial and LA phoniness. Don Henley’s so work was the best of the Eagles alums.

No offense, Stan, but from this Canadian’s point of view, Americans really do seem to kick people in the pants and eat them alive when they’re down and then build them up to the highest heights when they’re up! Only to kick them down again! 😆 A little bit too extreme, IMO. This song depicts it perfectly!
