Some “plot holes” that are addressed in the books: * Harry can’t see thestrals before Cedric’s death because he never actually saw Quirrel die. In the books, he passes out before that happens, and he’s too young to understand his mother’s death. * The whole Bellatrix trying to kill Harry scene and Snape stopping her in the sixth film never happened. Bellatrix wasn’t at Hogwarts when Dumbledore died. * After Hermione wipes her parents’ memories of her, she makes them change their names and move to Australia, so neighbors/colleagues wouldn’t be able to question them having a daughter. No other family of hers is ever mentioned, so we can assume her grandparents are dead and her parents have no siblings. * All the time turners break in the ministry scuffle in book 5, so that’s why they never make a return in the final movies. * JKR addressed the whole “how did Fred and George not notice Ron sleeping with Peter Pettigrew” argument as they used the map to sneak around and wreak havoc in the school, and on top of Hogwarts being humongous, they would have no reason to look at their brother’s dorm on the map. Also, as others have mentioned, Hedwig was female, and even in the movies, Neville’s parents were never killed, only tortured to the point of insanity.

@rafiki1017

@@merenwen4495 Yes, I am aware. But that is the plot hole. I already explained this in the regular comments section. You have to be intentional in making a horcrux. It doesn’t just happen by accident. The rest of the story hinges on this single moment, which makes the whole mythology look weak. It gets even worse when you realize the real reason the horcrux happened. And that is because Lily sacrificed herself to save Harry. So how does it follow that the most evil object known to the wizarding world, the horcrux, is created by and comes directly from the most powerful form of love, sacrifice? It doesn’t. Thus, the whole of Harry Potter is based not only on a plot hole, but a mythological inconsistency. A greater good can come out of evil, but evil probably shouldn’t come from good.
@jsunnydaze

The reason Slughorn's memory is so critical is not because it revealed that Tom Riddle wanted to make a horcrux, Dumbledore already knew that. In the book it's explained that the act of killing someone and splitting your soul just once is horrific and damages your soul, makes your soul very fragile, and Slughorn says something in the movie, "Isn't it bad enough to think of killing one person?" In Slughorn's memory, Tom asks what would happen if you did it more than once, say *seven* times, because seven is a magic number. This memory therefore confirms Dumbledore's suspicions that Tom created multiple horcruxes and that they should assume that he was able to make all seven. The other memories he collected help to get a better idea of young Tom and what he would have thought was worthy of being a horcrux -- such as items from the Hogwarts founders (Slytherin's locket, Rowena's diadem, Hufflepuff's cup; he never made a Gryffindor horcrux). Disturbingly, we know that he made the first one (the journal), and possibly the second (the family ring) while he was still a student at the school. Harry was the accidental seventh horcrux. Side note: from these memories, we also learn why the Defense Against the Dark Arts job is cursed, as Tom Riddle came back to the school before he became Voldemort and asked for the job. This is likely when he hid Rowena's diadem back at the school, and he may have been looking for something from Gryffindor, but after this meeting Dumbledore could never keep a teacher for more than a year in the position. And that's the real reason that he wouldn't give Snape the job for years. I've spent the last week with all of your HP reactions, it's been a pleasure. Thank you for the fun!!

Not sure if anyone's mentioned it, but the fact that Lucius Malfoy used the death curse on Harry in the second movie was kinda Jason Isaacs' fault. He forgot the actual spell (or rather added one to the scene out of the blue, 'cause the director allowed him to improvise) and the only one he remembered happened to be 'Avada Kedavra' (a shame he didn't try to kill him with 'Lumos' 😂). This little detail bugs me so much, but since it's Jason Isaacs you can easily forgive him for that, I guess 😂 Don't know if you guys have watched The Patriot (The Oak did, if I remember correctly), he played an amazing villain in this one. One thing I hated about book to movie translation is the whole plot of Half Blood Prince. In the movies you’re like he waited all year to get the memory from Slughorn. But in the books it takes all year because Dumbledore builds up to it with other memories about Voldemort’s past all so Harry can better understand him.

3:11 - The real reason Dumbledore left Harry with the Dursleys is because as long as Harry is in Petunia's house, he is completely safe from Voldy (because of the whole Lily's protection and Lily sharing blood with Petunia thing) 3:35 - It's because they don't want anything to do with magic 3:47 - Howlers are only used to express angry messages. 13:22 - Food doesn't just appear. It's prepared by the house elves of Hogwarts who transport it to the Great Hall with magic. 13:41 - The diary was a Horcrux so Ginny found it impossible to destroy (as it can only be destroyed by select few things: basilisk venom, cursed fire, etc.) so she gets rid of it by throwing it in the deserted bathroom 26:25 - No, the girl would not have drowned. They were all under a spell and were safe. In fact, Harry feels embarrassed once he learns this because he thought the girl would die if he didn't save her, which was not the case at all. 27:32 - He didn't do all that just for Harry's blood. It was also done to get Harry to Voldy. Voldy cannot come after Harry when he's in Hogwarts ('cause of Dumbledore) or when he's with the Durlseys ('cause of Lily's protection). So, they needed to plot the whole thing and bring Harry to the graveyard. So pricking Harry and running away wouldn't get the job done 33:58 - Bellatrix tortures them until they lose their sanity; she doesn't kill them 37:27 - They could try that but the effects of the potion they take would end before the new batch of potions is ready. It takes a loooong time o brew these rare potions. 40:18 - He didn't know they were horcruxes, just that some dark and dangerous magic was involved. 42:14 - They actually leave to travel Australia so they won't be having any conversations with people the know. 49:40 - It could be a two way thing but it is explained in the books that Voldy is too afraid to go there because of the pain he suffered because of it at the end of the Order of the Phoenix. Also, a lot of the plotholes are not in the books that have not been used on the movies like Nagini being kept in a protective bubble instead of taking part in the battle. I know the videos are just for entertainment purpose, sorry for being critical 😂🤷♀

about the liquid luck potion, tbf Slughorn has it already ready in the first teaching class session, considering how little time has passed between Dumbledores and Harrys visit and the first potion class, it seems not to require so much time to make, even though Slughorn says, it's difficult. Also, as I remember, in the books there was a whole small couldron with the potion ready, not just one bottle. He probably has run out of some crucial ingredients after the first batch, but one could argue about why he didn't store the rest of the potion, especially since it was clear the war was coming, just in case... Don't want to say what you said was wrong, it's just there are some things like these in the story itself where you go... hmmmm... :D

Funny story about the long hair in Goblet of Fire - The actors were instructed to let their hair grow out between movies so that when they came back for the next one, the stylists can do whatever they want with it. The books do solve some, if not most, of the plotholes. There's still some stuff that's undetermined, but... ehh... it's not as bad as the Pitch Meetings portray it. To be honest there's even stuff that did get solved in the movies that they glanced over for comedic effect. Over all though, they're not wrong about the things they're saying. From a purely Muggle perspective, all of this is pretty darn weird. My favorite Meeting would probably be the 6th, since it perfectly reflects my thoughts on the movie. Too much romance, too much drama, not enough plot, and wtf happened to the Burrow? Pitch Meeting is funny without truly being insulting. It pokes fun at movies and plot holes, but over all it's done in such a funny way that you can't quite be mad at it.

Burrow…. A suspect the family et al together used Reparo. I mean if it works in a major city that is destroyed by an Obscurial, I am sure it worked with the Burrow. To me the biggest pothole was not using Veritas serum on Slughorn the second he got to Hogwarts. But also, why that even matters since it is clear Dumbledore had already figured it out once Riddle was in the Diary, and really confirmed that Pettigrew needed Harry’s blood to bring Voldemort back. The big reveal wasn’t really, because I don’t know anyone who read the books that didn’t figure it out no later than book 5.

As a book reader I can confirm that even die hard fans have scratched our heads over the appearance and disappearance of various magical solutions throughout the book. broadly speaking, the use and tracking of potion ingredients (snape notices missing ingredients during the goblet of fire but not in the very first movie?), the goblin bank has a multitude of specific traps designed to catch anyone attempting to break in or inpersonate a client, including locations that strip away magical effects, but they get bamboozled by a confundus charm? and have no way to detect the use of such charms in the main reception area? Also neither Hogwards or the ministry utilize similar magics to confirm that the actual instructors and workers are who they say they are?? stuff like this pops up all the time; the continuity errors are more like a wheres waldo for Harry Potter fans; and most of us laugh at these inconsistencies because the books are written for kids; and its fun growing up and learning to use critical thinking to identify plot holes.

Yeah that whole thestral thing is because the movies made Harry actively kill Quirrel. In the books, Quirrel attacks and Harry passes out almost instantly because hes 11. Wakes up in the hospital to find out Quirrel died trying kill Harry

8:29 there's a theory that I enjoy that answers this. The challenges before the mirror weren't really meant to completely stop Voldemort from getting the stone, they were obstacles that Dumbledore intended Harry, Ron, and Hermione (and Neville in the books) to be able to get through. There was a challenge for each of them, chess was for Ron, the keys for Harry, devil's snare for Hermione (or Neville in the books and thr potions for Hermione in the books). After all, there was a period of time around Christmas where the mirror (presumably with the stone inside) was not hidden at the end of the obstacles.

In the books Hermione modified her parents memory so their biggest dream was to move to Australia, thus eliminating the problem with people knowing they had a daughter.

She also changed their memory to believe they were named something else. Still don't see why they didn't take 5 seconds for her to say that in the movie.

She also stated in the book that, assuming she survived the coming war, her plan was to find her parents and restore their actual memories.

That was great, I loved it! I hope there's one for the Divergent series, the Mazerunner and others you've watched, cause I'd love to watch you guys do more! I will say, jokes aside, that whole thing of "Wormtail sleeping with Ron while in rat-form" really blew my mind. I must admit, it wasn't just an entertaining watch, but also kinda fascinating to look back at all the weird and unique details about the movies.

Plot holes x💯.... That thing about Hermione's neighbours and parents friends wondering about a daughter they clearly forgot they had, was a wild one... If you guys ever decide to do or re-do old movies, I would really love to see you react to Steven Seagal's Marked for death. 🙏

Wow I just remembered that in the book the goblet of fire when the death eaters showed up, Harry, Hermione were all together and harry never got hurt, but he was the first one to get blamed for the dark mark in the sky and then a house elf named winky got blamed for it and then she got the sack.

I love love love Pitch Meeting! And watching your reactions were just as fun and enjoyable! I agree on the subject of adaptations. There are going to be certain things left out or changed, and the main thing is, those changes NEED to make sense i.e. the twins getting the Maurader's map, was indeed from Filtch's office, but was given to them by a character they omitted from the films, nor mentioned. Or Harry and Hermione dancing after Ron left (lets face it--they have more chemistry than her and Ron) was because the director was a Harry/Hermione fan, which is adorable. I look forward to your reactions when the Netflix HP series makes its debute.

26:36 Actually no, she wouldn't have drowned. They were all put in a deep sleep with protection spells or something and in the book, Harry felt ashamed that he thought they were gonna die if he didn't save them, Ron even made fun of him for thinking they were gonna drown to death 😂😂

Okay about wands and Ollivander's shop. That guy basically owns a gun store selling kids hand guns that do everything from turn people into animals to torture and death. You'd think he'd build a firing range in there somewhere.
