I would looooooove to have a simple conversation with anyone who believe Teague isn’t good. Lol. Especially these Letterman Row folks. So Miyan is experienced from an 9-ish yard run against Clemson. Yet, Teague running for like a 20 yard TOUCHDOWN run against Alabama is considered not good? And please explain how Teague was supposed to run with a depleted OL against Alabama. And then explain who carried Ohio State against Indiana when Sermon wasn’t doing anything. Oh, and let’s not forget that Teague ran for a very long gain against Northwestern before he got injured.
@JanMichaelFranklin

I agree that Teague is definitely good. The issue for me and many others is the limitation of his running style. He will get you the yards that he should get you if the hole has been blocked up well, but his limited lateral movement makes him easier to key on. He just can't make the quick change of direction in the backfield if one hole closes and another opens. This applies at the 2nd and 3rd level also. He'll run a guy over but he's not making many guys miss. This makes him limited overall compared to several of the other backs.

@@JanMichaelFranklin Look, I like your opinion because it isn't argumentative. All I will say is that the dude came back from a torn Achilles injury in less than 8 months (!) and I went back and watched every game he put up over 100 yards in. This notion that he needs a hole to run well is pretty double-standard since EVERY SINGLE RB EVER NEEDS HOLES. Saquan Barkley has wiggles and everything that looks good, but, had never been a between the tackles RB. I've seen Zeke not hit holes, I've seen JK Dobbins have horrible rushing games (go and watch the 1st game of the 2019 season against a MAC opponent if I'm not mistaken). Back to my point. Every RB isn't the same and Teague carried the team against Penn State and Indiana. Actually all year up until Northwestern (which he had a 20+ yard run and ended up hurt) and during that time Sermon wasn't doing much of anything. You give me Zeke, Eddie George, Derek Henry, and Beanie Wells all day as my RB.
@JanMichaelFranklin

@@tankster937 Like I said above, the dude is good, and I believe he will/deserves to get the start. That being said, he is a "straight ahead" back. He will have success against most or all B10 defenses but will have limited success against superior defenses. JK had all the wiggle in the world. Once he learned "vision" he was able to see other gaps once the primary hole wasn't there which us why he was able to have success against anybody. The same happened with Sermon later in 2020. Master is yet to show that he has the lateral movement to do this as far as I've seen. Now that he's 100% he has the chance to prove otherwise and I hope he does, but I am skeptical. Beanie is a good comparison.

@@JanMichaelFranklin Master has yet to show lateral movement? Go ahead and watch him against Indiana and Penn State, and then explain why he was able to run and make an angle to outrun Alabama and their defense? The dude has over 1200 yards in the last 2 years and this is from running behind Dobbins (who people wanted to bench after the first game of the 2019 season) and came off a devastating injury going into last season (while having no time to actually get back to speed due to the pandemic). Whatever "superior" defense that's out there. I'm sure Tony Alford (who apparently teaches Teague all practice to run straight ahead only, LOL) will do his job to HELP Teague run well while the OL do their job. Seems like people want to see 360 dunks, when a regular one-handed dunk counts the same.

@@tankster937 Look, the kid is a straight ahead runner. He is terrible when he has to move side to side. Anybody that actually pays attention rather than just quoting stats can see that. I like Master a lot, but that doesn't change that he has limitations. Trey and JK were very good laterally and were able to turn 5 yard runs into 25 yard runs because of that. Any of these guys can make big gains when there are gaping holes. The difference is what happens when there isn't so much green grass.

Too much is made of the running backs contribution in comparison to the front 5-7. Smart, fierce, and conditioned line play is only way to beat the likes of Alabama. Running backs need to be people that find the cracks, folks who instinctively can leverage the best angles against tacklers where it produces yards after contact. Elliot and Clarret were the best I can remember. Neither were the biggest, strongest, or fastest, but they were excellent finding and exploiting the cracks.

Crowley is injury prone, so he's not much of a threat. Williams is gonna hold the kid off, though, even if Teague doesn't. Henderson likely will become the stud (or close to it) that many expect, but if a guy like Sermon didn't get it going until late last season, Henderson, having missed his final year of high school ball, isn't catching up that quickly unless he's one helluva study.
