Great video. Does the new sump come with a gasket? or did you need to put anything inbetween the block and the new sump? Thanks

Thanks , This sump came with its gasket. I would still check if the gasket is included if buying another brand.

@ZakiGarage thank you, I've been recommended a aluminium one but from what I understand that will require rtv to be used instead of a gasket. I'm sure either will be fine but keeping the car oem is preferred if I can help it?

@@elwynll I don't have much experience in the matter, but from what I see online is the plastic sump is a common failure that you'll be replacing it every 5-10 year. Personally, I hate RTV seals, they are a lot harder to replace than a gasket.

Great video! Any leaks after the repair? I´m on the same boat, hit a stone and the oil pan broke... At the replacement parts diagram, appears like a sealeant tube that I don´t know if it´s needed to order or not, knowing that it already needs a rubber gasket..

Indeed there was a leak afterwards from the drain plug that came with the new pan. But all good now after putting in a new plug. If you are looking at a general parts diagram you might see extra parts that would apply to other models. Note the 2.0L engine had a few different variants with different engine codes (car in video is CHHB). But from what I remember from looking at the parts diagram based on the VIN number and engine code of this car there was no sealant tube and no mention of using extra sealant in the repair procedure. Good luck

Great video. You sure that’s the right part number for the pan bolts? Seem to not fit mk7.

Thanks. There are different engine codes on these mk7 and probably with different part numbers. This is an CHHB engine usually on German made GTIs not found on US market GTIs. So always check parts using your own vin number. Are these parts right? Well I hope so, oil pan from vw shop based on vin number and bolts from the dealership. And we didn't get fitment issues.

What did you use to remove the excess oil from the old gasket and oil sensor?

Why would you replace plastic again with plastic? Nobody in their right mind would want a plastic oil pan.
