Very nice. Good to see your engine is getting lots of ull.

CAUTION! I learned the hard way that doing this with a nylon retainer on the intermediate oil pump drive shaft can break the retainer and have the intermediate shaft come out with the priming tool.

This just happened to me today, the engine was already installed in the car. What did you do to fix this? I’m at the point where I’m gonna drop the pan.

@@JakeSanMartin I was able to pull the intake manifold and get to the retainer. I was lucky in that the retainer had moved down the oil pump shaft and was visible.

Do you turn the drill clock wise?

Should I be concerned if one pushrod squirts 6 inches in the air and another took five minutes to start trickling? Should they be squirting in the air or just trickling, what is normal?
@LaRelicHunter

trickling is fine Squirting in the air would suggest to much drill speed or trash blocking end of tube. I would replace tube. Cheap to replace re-test and see if it changes.

thanks for sharing your videos, I'm from Uruguay, I have a drawer, 350 vortec, I'm priming the engine and the butt of the passenger side does not drop a drop of oil and they are going to more than 15 minutes of drilling, it is normal that it takes so long ??

What type of priming tool are you using? Are you rotating motor quarter turns? What is the oil psi on your gage while spinning motor? Some primer tools do not work on the SBC.
@chevytodopoderoso

@@LaRelicHunter If I am turning the motor, while the bait, and the pressure of 50 PSI, the tool that uses is the one that you use in your video. The stock on the driver's side loads fast but the passenger side has not dropped a single drop. I do not know if you keep insisting with the priming and the moment.

chevytodopoderoso Well the good thing is you have oil on the drivers side. I would think one of your oil galleys is plugged. Or you missed one of the oil galley plugs. I would place the Distributer in start the motor just let it warm up see if it unclogs the galley. Should not take but a few mins. If you want to check the galley plugs There is one under the intake and one behind the timing cover. I have had this happen before on a few motors and one of the galleys was plugged. Especially if motor sat up for any period of time during rebuild. Hope this helps.

Take me about 45 mins to have all the rockers primed/ have oil over them. Is that normal. Drill is getting psi to 40/42 psi
@LaRelicHunter

Yes as long as you have oil coming out push tubes your good. Need to use a high speed drill. I was doing about 40 psi at time of priming this motor.

LaRelicHunter awesome man thanks. Im now having trouble with timing. It would spit flames out the exhaust and go poof instead of firing haha. I think my timing was 180 out so I reinstalled the timing chain to make sure it was on correctly now im about to try again. Hopefully ill have it broke in soon.

FYI Don't use the autozone 27060 oil primer! What's the idea behind rotating the engine by hand a few times during this process? Some people do, some don't. I don't want to waste my time if it isn't necessary.

Jay Ryan I do it mostly to get the oil filter full of oil and to make sure i didn't leave an oil plug out somewhere before i fire the engine up for break in. if your goal is to see if there is oil flow everywhere then you've gotta do it with the valve covers off to watch the rocker arms and slowly crank the engine thru a couple of revolutions to get oil everywhere. Relieves pressure on tubes as you turn the engine. 1000 rpm on drill equals about 2000 rpms. I have heard of people washing cam lobes on new builds and can’t figure out just what happen. It’s a piece of mind for me and only takes an hour or so.
