This sensei knows his stuff and teaches a really wide range of techniques. Lots of practical kumite applications.

Hello, we train with Okinawa masters also. But we also train together during the day. We had 65 people training. No dojo in Okinawa can fit this many people. So to be together, we train at the budokan together. Training in the evenings with Okinawa masters is much smaller groups because their dojos are small.

Quick question, at what belt level do gkr start teaching throws, takedowns etc.? In my dojo I haven't seen them teach any of this yet, highest belt in the class is red belt, I'm assuming that this stuff is only taught to brown belt and above.

There is no real rule on this. Generally when higher grades (such as black belts) are working on application, they may often work on these techniques.

What if they were to throw a front or side kick in when they lean back instead of going round or hook? What guard would be best for that?
