A Poké Investor Bro isn't someone who buys boxes and cases with the intention of selling sometime later in the future, it's someone who tells others to invest in Pokémon cards. They misinform people that Pokémon sealed product outperforms the S&P 500 by 525%. They do this with Pokémon cards because they own the sealed product they're trying to get other people to buy. They are pumping the price up so that they can sell their sealed product at an inflated price. It's called market manipulation. If they tried doing this with stocks, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) would come down on them like a ton of bricks.

Listened to this whole thing yesterday while at work, glad you had some good takes on it man! At the end of the day we're definitely just a bunch of goofballs collecting shiny cardboard, and I love it and this community all around. Even as collector mainly, I appreciate the investors because a lot of them are helpful to find where I should best spend my money as a collector to make sure I get the best bang for my buck. I almost use their platform in reverse to how a full investor would, I see what isn't selling for a ton but is still very cool to me and I put my money there and collect that set or those specific singles and who knows maybe in the future the prices of those go way up and I get lucky and can sell to buy even more cool stuff. Either way Pokémon as a whole has a really cool community filled with a lot of characters that make it fun, and they bring a lot of life and entertainment to the hobby and I appreciate all of you guys!

I believe it was Ryan that said as an adult as you collect you should be responsible and take value into account and I would hope everyone does this (unless you’re just loaded and money doesn’t matter.) I also think NN has shown the data in his videos that proves Pokémon is an investable product; I think the reason this does get some negativity is because people associate investing with only being about the money and view investors as people who don’t care about Pokémon or the product and while I’m sure there are some people like that they aren’t one in the same. The most interesting question I think Jluv asked that everyone kind of ignored/skipped over was if the value wasn’t there who would still collect because they love Pokémon?
@MimikBrew
5 ай бұрын
Yeah that’s an interesting question that hopefully we’ll never live to find out. 🤣 Seriously. I’m guilty of selling a 1st edition Base set Zard in 2001 because literally no one cared about Pokémon after the initial explosion. If Zard was worth more than $350 back then I may have cared about it more and hung onto it.

It would take MASSIVE bankruptcy or scandal for Pokémon to even hint at dying off at this point. The closest we saw it happen in the past (IMO) was around the Ruby Sapphire and Diamond Pearl years. The hype had died down a lot since the 90s inception of the TCG. But, it made it through and some of those cards hold a ton of value now because less people were playing and buying those sets at the time. It just wasn't as popular at that time like it had been in the years prior. I think we are in another XY like they mentioned. I don't think we are on the brink of "dying off" not even close, but things are settling more and with COVID over and life going back to what it was pre-pandemic it will be interesting to see how SV does long term 5-10 years from now. I personally don't care for the SV sets. I would pick SWSH or S&M over SV. Also, I'm just a minority in the fact that I miss the yellow borders. Call me stupid haha. It was just a part of the classic style of Pokémon throughout the years. If they wanted to change the border they should've done so in 2016 when Japanese cards started printing that way. Otherwise they should've kept the majority of sets with the yellow border. Though, I do think some alt arts and trainers look better with silver! So, essentially the commons, uncommon and holo and reverse holos stick with yellow and the more sought after chase get the silver. Best of both worlds then. Good takes Brewski! Would definitely like to hear more of your takes on older sets in the Pokémon timeline.

Personally, I like everybody there besides Alex and J. Used to like Alex until I saw him bring drama on himself a few times, then play the victim card as well as misrepresent what Opossum and Rattle fundamentally do. He tends to strawman A LOT. Unsubbed last year. J has a lack of knowledge about other people and is just ignorant because of his own biases. Next boom for pokemon will occur based off a video game release. My predictions is the pokemon company has seen the succes with something like Palworld, eventually will create the open world pokemon game we have wanted for ages (hopefully with gen 1 pokemon) and if they have some connection between pokemon go and it in terms of leveling or hatching eggs... its game on. If they dont do this they are silly and idk what they are thinking, the market is screaming for it with the pull of the 151 set release + success of palworld + success of pokemon go. they need to get on this.

I watch a lot of these guys and alex I watch, and he does have a lot of good info and opinions based on data that I agree with. But what I learned from this is that he really takes the little hate he gets from the minority of the community and blows it up. He does have a point, imo there is a loud minority of people who hate investors as a whole and it doesnt just pertain to pokemon. I think its just people who dont have the luxury to put money in investments and they take out their anger and frustrations on people who show they are in a well off position. The hate is definitely different in terms of the type of hate nick gets hate because he gets fans hating on him who are defensive opposed to the hate investors get where its usually hate fuled by jealousy.

What people need to understand is that everyone in the video is doing the exact same thing. They are all investing into Pokemon as a brand. Every single one of them. I understand people might want "majority" of content to not be attatched to the value of the card but lets be honest here, everyone knows the art and the collectible is the hobby. And everything in life comes with a price tag Honestly, as someone who was out of the hobby for 20 years until 151, I can appreciate the money videos because it informs someone like me with very little knowledge so that i dont get price gouged on some 25 cent card. different perspectives help
