Always a dangerous game when you have so many seniors as all-arounders. I don't see how Michigan won't crumble without them.

If Sierra and Gabby stay another year then they have to replace 11 routines from Natalie, Abby, and Kolous (who I believe is not on scholarship). I imagine it will be Naomi, Jacey, and Kaylen on bars, Naomi and Jacey on beam, and Carly on floor. But that still leaves two vaults and two floor exercises to replace. They have a lot of injured gymnasts who have been expected to contribute so I wonder if we’ll see any of them.

This comment aged well lmao. They are not doing well this year. Bev Plocki needs to get it together and actually strategize her lineups, because they won’t win another national title using only all-around athletes.

Excellent meet! thank you for the very quick upload and for taking out the commercials! If Michigan can fix their vault landings, they are going to be extremely difficult to beat. Kind of surprised Michigan judges did not award any senior a 10.00, although there were very few 10.00s on the senior nights that I saw. Post-season is going to be very exciting!

Kinda new to ncaa gymnastics...only been watching since 2021. But I think coach kJ is brilliant for scheduling OU vs #2 UM & #3 UF to end regular season to get the ladies primed for regionals and nationals. Iron sharpens iron....I compare this to UF coach Rowlings who sat some of her starters out in key rotations vs OU on Saturday.....yes I am mad that I didn’t get to see my boo trinity do FX in that meet.....

Can someone explain me how these bars routines of maloney+pak, half pirouette, dismount can get enough bonus points to start from a 10.0? And why are people doing van luevens when they apparently dont need to?
@eliseherzog8275
Жыл бұрын
The maloney connected to the pak has a ton of bonus attached to it (though i can see how it wouldnt be obvious) and can easily add to a 10.0 start if the dismount is of adequate value (D I believe in this instance). People do skills all the time they don’t really need to, whether to show off an uncommon skill, or even do a more difficult skill that has become easier for them over time!
@atk1110

Can someone please explain how LaVasseur got a 9.9 with a three shoulder-width cross step, AND Bowers got a 9.9 with a two-shoulder width straight step, and chatty Kathy OUs biggest fan announcing that'll be at LEAST a tenth because of the size of the step? NCAA needs some BIG scoring changes and updates. It sucks to see gymnasts knowing they don't deserve a 10... And vice versa. (Kinda unrelated to this particular meet, but true nonetheless.)
@carolinaholland9341
Жыл бұрын
Because neither had form issues in the air
@atk1110
Жыл бұрын
@@carolinaholland9341 that would be an additional deduction from the ones I mentioned. Bowers' step should have been .1-.15 (1-2 shoulder length steps) so fair enough. But LaVasseur was easily (3 shoulder-lengths) 0.15-0.2 + a directional deduction for the cross over step 0.5-0.1 deduction. Any form break would have been in addition to the landings. That is why both receiving. 9.9 is (imo) not correct.
@carolinaholland9341
Жыл бұрын
@@atk1110 in NCAA, I believe a small step is 0.05, and a larger step is 0.1. That could be wrong, but I think they don’t have quite the range for deductions on steps as JO or elite
@atk1110
Жыл бұрын
@@carolinaholland9341 absolutely, I wish they would revise the code and we would see fairer scores. And, yes you're correct about the 0.05 but her step was a 0.1 size (bowers). Post-season helps, but it makes it a lot less fun to watch when you know an earned score vs. otherwise. Hey ay, as an American living in Thailand and alum of one the the schools ias a top contender, and former lvl10/JO... Certain scores just bug me. Always love the discussion that comes with the debate though!

@elenajoseph6630

It’s honestly a lot to explain how postseason and seedings and all that work. You’re probably honestly better off just googling it or looking at Twitter for someone to help explain it to you.
@followmeandmydaay
Жыл бұрын
A somewhat short answer: postseason starts with the conference championships, where all teams of their individual conference (pac12, sec, big10, ...) will compete for the conference title. A bit after that regionals will take place at 4 host schools that will change each year. This year it's at UCLA, Pitt, Denver and Oklahoma. The final season rankings at that point will decide which team goes to which regional. Regionals takes place on two days. On the first day the best 4 of 8 teams qualify to regional finals. In finals (day two) the best 2 of those 4 will qualify to nationals. So out of each regional (UCLA, Pitt, Denver, Oklahoma) 2 teams will go to nationals, which makes it 8 teams in total. Nationals then will take place mid April and also takes place on two days. On day one the 8 teams compete and the best 4 will make the final 4, who will compete on day two at the team final for the national team title. Once that happened season's over and we have to wait till January for it to start again 🥲

there is a dismount called "piked open layout" or something (one of Kentucky does it) and it actually looks quite similar so maybe the juges think its that kind of dismount...but I do agree, they always label it as a dlo so it should be a layout and not a weird piked something...at least .1 for the body shape + .05 for the leg separation (I dont know if ragan has but shchennikova def has!)
