Daniel Mansfield and Norman Wildberger from the School of Mathematics and Statistics, UNSW Sydney, introduce Old Babylonian culture from 1900- 1600 B.C.E. and the most famous mathematical artifact from that time: the clay cuneiform tablet called Plimpton 322.
This is the first of a series of videos which will set out a dramatically new perspective on this ancient mathematics which reveals it to be fresh and full of life, and capable of teaching us many things, not only about arithmetic, geometry and computation, but also about what it means to do mathematics purely.
