Those commercials USED to be limited to long "infomercials" on weird channels that nobody usually watched. Now the pharmaceutical industry is trying to shove a lot of that junk into "regular" ads, on frequently watched shows/channels...like weight-loss ads that explicitly show the excessive body fat on certain test subjects (as a "before" pic). We usually have the TV on at dinner time (and eat in the living room watching it), and I'm like, I'm trying to EAT here, and you're showing me THIS?!?

The Jordache commercial worked in the late 70s because it was a more innocent time. Child molesters were not talked about back then, so the topic was not on most people's minds. Meanwhile, tight-fitting designer jeans were very much in vogue: Jordache, Sasson, & Gloria Vanderbilt, the label for each worn on the back pocket. Like adult clothing today, whatever was in style was also marketed to children. Hence the kids dressing like their teacher. Guess you had to be there to get it.

They used to have just 4 rolls of toilet paper in a pack? That wouldn't last 2 days

+yakk13 It wouldn't now...but then it lasted a long time, rolled tight, lots more tp per roll. :)

They made toilet paper better. You didn't need 1/2 a roll to wipe! I remember there were 12 sets at places like JM Fields or Kings. It was strong and rough which is why Charmin came out, it was soft. I remember my brother made a joke that our old toilet paper was like wiping with 'pine cones'. Makes you wonder...what happened!

Poor Charles Nelson Reilly....from the original Cornelius Hackl in the original 1964 Broadway production of "Hello, Dolly!" to pitching kids' crayons/markers dressed as a banana----and then, as a "regular" on daytime TV's "Match Game"---ah, the MAGIC of Hollywood!!!!!

Amanda Collier. Soon after left the industry to marry Bryan Collier (her maiden name was Sexton), an architect. They settled in Santa Barbara, CA, and raised 4 children; David, Autumn, Lois and Gordon. She remained a stay-at-home mom until their children were grown, and then she moved into the real estate business, eventually working with her husband handling promotion and sales as he designed new suburban housing plans. They retired a number of years ago, and now travel frequently.

I remember my mother using Dippity Doo back in the 70s when she curled her hair. These ads bring back a lot of good memories, no terrorist, no real technology, everything was basic and simple.

I am 49 and the 70's where the best, low crime, just enough technology life was much simpler, television you rarely heard a curse word are seen a sex scene, innocence was lost in the 80's
Quindecillion like i said do the math. Of course fewer people in the 70's but percentage wise crime was lower in almost every category not all but most. Anybody with half a brain knows crime was lower in 70's and people where more simple minded and familys closer. Television was more in tune with family and family programming was the norm. Churches had more enrollment and more people went to church.

Quindecillion your ignorant and wear wine colored glasses. Anyone and i mean anyone with half a brain should know 70's was a decade that was great after Vietnam america came back together but as for the American spirit as a whole it was a simpler time and crime once again percentage wise was lower, why? Simpler time. Homosexuality was in the closet where it should be, liberalism was for most part that uncle nobody talked about much conservatism was the leading political view. Got some homework for you look up number one television show in 1975 compared to today top show.
