I got this reel 25 years ago for making good grades in school. I used it occasionally but never caught fish on it. I started using it more this year and have caught several good bass on it.

Thanks for the video! I have one of these reels as well. (Mine is actually a Procast) Found it with a solid graphite rod buried in mud in the local lake here years ago. Going to clean it up a bit and take it to the salt water! Thanks again for the adjustment tips.

Just bought one of these on a Abu Garcia pole for $5.99. Reel is like new! Smooth as silk.

I think that’s supposed to be solid black, but the paint has all rubbed off lol! These were quite possibly the best budget reels ever made. I had 2 and didn’t know how easy it was to fix the line guide gear, which is what went out on both of them. They were almost impossible to backlash yet you could cast far with them once you learned. One of the best reels ever made and BEST reel ever made for the money they charged for it.

I have an almost identical reel that worked fine but hadn't been cleaned since it was bought new because it was never used. However after cleaning, the spool won't spin freely when the release button is pressed. Do you know what may have caused that? I am not sure if I over-oiled it or under-oiled it or if maybe i missed a spot to oil. Any suggestions would be super helpful. Good Video!

This was many young angler’s first baitcaster! They were perfect for beginners. Hard to backlash but still easily casted far.

I spent weeks saving up $70 to buy this reel at Walmart when I was a kid. Never was able to use it, couldn't figure out how to cast a baitcaster.
