Even Japanese can relax and feel peaceful summer afternoon in country side. I can even imagine smell and touch of the air in this place. I often watch your videos but this is splendid one. I am very glad to see you are having happy Japanese life!!!! May Japanese gods bless your family.

Great video. That looked like such an amazing place. I have only been to a house like that in a "living museum" North of Osaka. The forest in that area seems incredible. I suppose that's an aspect of Japan I don't get to appreciate too often since I live in the city! Glad to see you posting video again. Hope there will be more to come :)

Wow, this is an amazing video. That house looks so great and I love the way the gardens and stuff look all around it. There is something I love about that warm rainy weather and I can not think of a better place to experience it than in Japan. I have never traveled Japan ( I am 18) but I plan to move there some day. This video is like exaclty what I love about Japan, it captures it beautifully. It looks like you had a great day there with your family. You are a very lucky man :)

The restaurant you visited seems to represent a large amount of what I love about Japan. Beautiful scenery, the calming sounds of rain, lovely traditional building, a wonderful atmosphere altogether. Unlike crowded, stuffy, and noisy restaurants in the US. This is one of the places I wish to find myself lost in.

Somebody already responded to your query... anyway, that was MATCHA, high grade green tea powdered and stirred with hot water. It is quite rare any restaurant would serve, either free or by special order, the MATCHA. However, the area where the family lives and the restaurant located, SHIZUOKA pref. is major tea producing part of Japan, very proud to serve good tea, as well as WASABI served along with SOBA. The place is casual, yet very classy.

The kind of Soba noodle shown on video is Zaru, or Mori. Rolled and cut buckwheat noodle briefly boiled, washed chilled in cold water.....then served on Zaru (bamboo basket). Simplest serving. Diner dipping noodle into the sauce, which is made with Sweet Sake blended with seasoned broth of seafoods (dried fish & seaweed) and soy sauce, normally kept in cool place for some time to develop mellowed taste. I'd say it tastes sweet/salty/rich in mild way. Each shop has its own sauce.

Yes, indeed...real Wasabi root to grate for your Soba! A big one at that. Once I had one named Wasabi-soba at soba shop in Shibuya but disappointingly tiny Wasabi root came along with Morisoba, my pinky-size Wasabi without much flavor and bite. Shizuoka Prefecture is the best quality Wasabi producing area, particularly, middle of Izu Peninsula. This Soba-ya has a class, and, good taste to present like that. ( pun intended) ps. You got very sharp eye to catch the name of the place!

to do slurp their noodles can taste the noodles with the soup. that is the reason. and Soba was originally junk food in Edo era.
