Maybe it's our age or life experience but I laugh at myself when a great song no matter what genre comes on while driving and it makes me cry cause it hits you personally! Especially when I'm an Ol' school metal head.

Welcome aboard of Zachs fans :-) It hammered me first time I found it. As someone wrote, recommend to listen whole album "All My Friends Hate Ticket Master" ..... every song is heart touching. I love many .... Quitting time, Oklahoma city, No Cure, DeAnn (extremely warm and sweet), Heading South .... But first time I heard Open The GAtes it changed something in me and help me to be OK with my father again (at least partially and 2 years after his death) ........... Open The Gate, I am here to prove. I am better than my father was, where he came from too ........... I like it. Hope Zach will come to my small country once too. Greeting from Pilsen, West Bohemia

This is a heartbroken soul trying to make it from one moment to the next. The orange of the morning sun represents the hope that the one he loves will return to the love they shared. Something in the orange tells me we’re not done. He hopes against all odds that is the case. “To you I’m just a man; to me you’re all I am. Where the hell am I supposed to go?” He really has no idea what to do with himself. He is hopeless and lost and all he wants is for things to be the way they were. The orange of the sunset represents the dying of the light, the fading of the slim hope that their love will be restored and the love of his life will come back. If you leave today I’ll just stare at the way the orange touches all things around. They way the sun sinks into the horizon and the light touches all things is how she touched every piece of his soul. He doesn’t hate her, he hates the fact that she isn’t there and he still has her in his soul. He desperately wants her to turn those headlights around and once again be his love.

Zach has a catalogue full of songs like this that each pull on a different type of emotion. Definitely a deep and thoughtful songwriter, with a great band. DeAnn is another touching song, though from earlier in his career, I believe he was still on active duty in the Navy at the time. Jamie, which features the phenomenal Charles Wesley Godwin is also beautifully tragic. He just put out a live album at Red Rocks called All My Friends Hate Ticket Master, and it's pretty awesome. Definitely a fun artist to dig into.

So many amazing songs by Zach. Crooked Teeth is a good one that I haven't noticed many reactions for. Right Now the Best and Godspeed have been two of my recent favorites. Zach will definitely tug at you. I refer to him as the male version of Adele. Because they are both healing others with the songs they wrote during their heartbreaks. One that makes me tear up is Happy Instead. But you can't go wrong with any of his music.

Zach’s an amazing songwriter. He’s got some that are so touching it’s hard to listen to. “Leaving” “Mine Again (KZitem version)” “Condemned” too many to count that are so good.

I look at the Orange as a positive more than a negative. I didn't realize it before he came out with the song, but there it is. I live in the desert, so that moment before night becomes day or day becomes night is more visceral. It reminds you how puny we and our "problems" are. Peace, Love!!

When I was a teenager I was naively but madly in love with USA (a crush). US has changed a lot in half a century and me well matured and truly enamoured with France. Nevertheless, this song and you the reviewer, Salty show that all was not in vain and elicit a flashback of my young self and the idealized notion of US of the yesteryears.

Someone care to help me understand “there’s orange dancing in her eyes from bulb light”?
@AndrewBMcConnell
10 ай бұрын
Some older light bulbs when they're about to burn out can give off an orangeish hue. It's my interpretation thay it's a metaphor for either the person he loves showing up to give a good bye or his imagination is making him think of the light as their eyes
