I just played one of the videos in my uploads "1990 Okinawan Karate ~ Kobudo Festival Demonstrations 7" watching the true "old men" of Okinawan karate performing demonstrations in their mid to late 80's. Want to see old school watch the clip "Pre-WWII Goju Ryu" on my channel. That's old school. Certainly this man is well stretched, etc. but not "old" Gambatte!!

Great job. Your in really good shape then. Hopefully your doing well 2015. Very inspiring for me to get stretched out at 51 as I once was in my younger days. Funny how martial arts keeps us in shape like the old school kung fu movies with the white haired masters having devastating killer techniques.

I can't help but notice an interesting thing about the slow motion kicks. That is that the actual travel path of the foot is plain wrong. I certainly do recognize your flexibility and strength, and as such, the kicks are fine, but I would suggest you also make the path correct, given that there re no reasons not to. It is not harder, and it will improve focus... or so I believe. This is most prominent in the initial yoko geri.

if this hadn't mentioned "old school" and had stopped at the stretching then it would be a great educational video for increasing flexibility as this guy is very flexible. I echo others comments around the performance of the kicks, they are in fact very poorly done and with some of the body wind up it shows a lack of core strength. I would suggest more practice at lower levels until fluid and without needing body movement, then move on to trying to look flash.

By the way, there was never a Yoko Geri in the Traditional Okinawa Karate, Yoko Geri came into Karate when Funakoshi brought it from Okinawa to Japan - that's Modern Karate and not the ol School. You will not find any Okinawa Karate Kata having a Yoko Geri in it. In this film he demonstrates a Ballet type of Martial Art - sorry - don't like at all.

we do similar stretching so i can say that the karateka is outoutstanding shape. The techniques are looking more artistic than real fighting. Watch his arms while is kicking. Thats isnt a good defence, he is loosing his balance. If I would do it, I have to consider to make some push-ups.
