My friend had a game that we loved to play. It was a plastic gray mountain as the game board and marbles were your pieces to climb the mountain. I recall holes along the path that would cause you to lose the marble. Can’t recall the name of it though. We would play that on sleepover nights. Great childhood memories.

I remember all those games. Anything from the 60s were at gramma's house, I had Stratego. My other gramma had slide hockey with about 10 different teams. Bending the metal players' sticks would allow for some great shots. Game on!

My favorite game as a child, was stay alive. Plastic base with sliding levers that had random holes on them. You place your marbles on top and each person would slide a lever one click. If a hole appeared a marble would fall below. Winner was the one with just his marbles left on top. My favorite board game was payday. The board was a one month grid and you decided how many months you'd play each game. I even had it as a software game for my first computer (80's). Good memories!

I liked Slap Sticks, as well as Tiddlywinks, Stratego, Concentration, Aggravation, Dominos, Parcheesi, Spare Time Bowling, Boggle, Uno, Yatzhee, Battleship, Mandala, Ace/Duce, Backgammon (rainy day things to do while stuck in the house at the lake.) I can go on… eight kids in our family and we had to be entertained… oh yeah we had no TV either. We had it just could not get a picture so it almost never was on. The radio played all the time.

I played a little chess with one of my buddies, Leon. We had a lot of fun. I seldom won, but Leon was a gracious winner. I remember Stratego. The smart kids played that while I tried to master Pic Up Sticks and Mumbley Peg. Back then, all of my friends in grade school carried a knife to school so that we could play Mumbley Peg before school, at lunch, at recess and after school. It was a kinder, more gentle time. BTW: My principal always had a rifle in the back window of his pick up truck.

I thought you were going to say your favorite toy was BATTLESHIP! I also loved to play skee-ball (shuttle ball, whiz ball, greased lightening). It had a football like ball with cords running through it and attached to two sets of handles on each end. Two people would play; each holding the set of handles across from each other; with their wrists together. You would pull and push (by opening your arms) the shuttle back and forth. It was amazing! One could WHACK the opponent with a really fast ball, lol. The hardest part of all was unraveling the cords/ropes in order to play. Ah....good times!

parcheesi is a western version of the ancient indian game pachisi, part of a the cross and circle family of games. its a lot of fun! if youve ever played sorry, aggravation, trouble, or ludo, those are also pachisi derivatives 🤹♀️
