Sadly Johnny Paycheck had a very troubled life and a very abrupt end to his career with terrible health problems due to manifested by the way he indulged in life but what a gifted artist he was. He had some fantastic songs in his career. My favourite though would have to be "I Did The Right Thing". What a powerful song this was and sung with such emotion but JP always sang that way. I was amazed to be looking at Wikipedia and this song was never mentioned. This song hits home to me because from a marriage and three girls, now forty years past, ashamed to say I didn't do the right thing and I have suffered the consequences ever since especially with an estranged relationship with my children which near kills me every day. I am further amazed that JP hasn't been inducted into the country hall of fame as there are many in there far less entitled than he. Johnny Cash is my country music hero but by crikey JP isn't that far off.

Nashville is trying to do away with country music by making it like soft rock and pop music. They are using snap tracks on most of the music these days. True country artist need to do as Buck Owen's when they came up with the Bakersfield sound.
