This fellow plays with a wonderful musical sensibility. Top notch.

I bought an FG 180 back in '66 or '67. It's still a great guitar. I hadn't played it in a while, so I got it out the other day. Except for a minor truss rod adjustment to bring the action down, it was ready to go. These really are fine guitars for the money. I know I played it a lot back in the day--some wear on the fretboard bears witness to that. Too bad some of the other stuff I've bought didn't hold value like this one did.

I had 2 of them 125 bucks, most playable guitar with rewarding tonal excellence and balance, a natural for me just as I was developing skills, still miss them.

For Elliott sound, use phosphor bronze strings and struming with your thumb (down) and index (up), without nails

Hi, I recently bought a Yamaha f310, suntanning it in indirect sunlight daytime n using UV lamp on it at night. It's darkening nicely. Then I recreated the fg180 red label exactly using PowerPoint n Microsoft paint to lift the logo from scanned copy of the red labels on the net. I printed the fg180 red label Nippon gakki labels n stuck it inside my Yamaha f310. The original label I tore it off. Next I bought butter bean tuning pegs n change it and I also bought a truss rod cover n drill holes over the headstock. Now I own a remodeled fg180. I own an original fg200 circa 1970 and decided to make myself an fg180 Yamaha. It's great, using a real Yamaha all laminate f310 and making it into a fg180 red label yammie. Just sharing. Cheers man :)

If you're still paying attention to this video, I wonder what strings you're using here? I have an old FG-180 I picked up in absolutely showroom new condition, perfect finish, etc. I love the sound you're getting here, and would like to try and approximate it.

Love it - great playing and great tone. We have had a FG 180 in the family since the early 70's. What kind of strings are you using on yours?

Freaking incredible med range n punchy bass. I just got a fg335. Old old. Repaired cracked neck. Put tusq nut, unbleached bone saddle n bridge pins n it sounds n plays great. I set the string height. Its amazing how percussive the bass is. Love playing it with its 1 3/4 inch nut width. Lol.

i have a Yamaha FG200 circa 1973, its 47 years old. the label is worn off. I scanned some internet FG180 labels. did some pixel editing to get the color right - I printed it on matte stickers. Stuck one of the Nippon Gakki FG180 red label on to my guitar soundhole and voila, I have a Yamaha FG180 red label... now all i gotta do is change to butter beans tuners, lol!!!
