Founded in 1900 the Irish Pub - then known as the Elwood Hotel - proved to be a survivor. While most every other one of the original early 20th century hotels was leveled to make way for the new casinos lining the boardwalk, the inn on St. James Place and the Boardwalk remained.
She was a speakeasy in the 1920's and then a popular host to many of America's notable characters, like Joe DiMaggio who both drank at her bar and stayed in one of the rooms upstairs.
