I used to go to a psychiatrist who had two Labradors (now that I think about it they were the same colors as Olive and Mabel) as part of her therapy practice, and the dogs were trained and certified for that specific form of therapy. They'd sometimes get up on the couch on either side of me and nap or the younger Muddy would bring a toy over to me to throw while I talked to my psychiatrist. I found it funny that her last name was Katz!

Years ago I’d bring my dog with me to my shrink’s office. It got to the point if I didn’t, my therapist knew there’d be something I was scared to talk about. When I’d try to hold in scary feelings, my dog would pick up on them. One upsetting time he went to the therapist’s chair and stood on his hind legs, bracing himself against the chair and just looked at him. The therapist told him, “It’s okay - I won’t hurt your mom.” I lost it - no holding back then. He suggested we co-write an article for a journal but I scrammed before then. : )

This must've been a bit of work (?) but it turned out well, a pleasant watch capped with the exciting news of the monthly column in Sunday Times; that alone is almost enough to make me move to Britain. That Mabel has such the eager sparkle in her eye does she not. Olive the reigning champion, all the dignity of her place, how we love them both! They are so photogenic but then so is their delightful owner and sportsman and commentator extarordinaire Andrew Cotter. I have to watch this again because Andrew is always interesting and entertaining to hear, and unlike many of us he actually has something to say!!
