Hi, you've been busy. You also have sunshine and I have snow and rain😮. If you get good carcases for your kitchen you can change the doors and tops later. You can also add sink/ taps expensive ones later too. As you said a basic kitchen for now. Good to see you and your extended 🐾 family. Stay safe and sane.😊

Hi Chris, that is some good progress on the pruning, a ton of work but it looks great. The little house jobs look nice with hanging up the artwork, are they made by south-African artists? I would build a kitchen as the ones you showed, made from blocks and then plaster them and put some nice doors in. It's a bit more work but the result will be very satisfying as you build it yourself, it will save you some money. Have a great week!!! Cheers Bert 🙏🏻❤

Hey Bert, the painting is a South African artist yes - Anthony Walton. But he has passed on. I love his work though!

Wow, Christine....you have been a busy bee! That fireplace has been a true blessing .... rainy weather, and even snow! That wind was hectic. Really hope that your septic system can be sorted soonest. So annoying. The idea of basic brick built kitchen is very appealing, however, can't understand that it doesn't come out much cheaper than the proper installed kitchen cupboards. Big expenditure, but will make your life infinitely better and easier once completed. Can't wait to see the final phase of making and installing the storage lids. Looking very good. The olive trees are happy again....all neat and tidied up. Hoping for a good olive season for you. Amazing how one's paintings can turn a house into a home....makes such a good difference . Painting and map looking lovely and perfectly placed. Well done. Shakti and Shiva looking happy and the cats surely love the sun. Good job!

Awe I am so glad you are making your home ,homey and lived in , The art work is beautiful. It's going to be so comfortable and warm for you and your fur babies. How is the water filters working? Is it safe for culinary use and drinking yet? I bet with the carpentry skills you are getting you can make cabinetry, Big hugs for wellbeing and happiness.

Sorry about your sewer problems. The most important factors in a sewer system are pipe size, pitch or fall and proper venting. Here in California the minimum pipe size is 4”, a pitch of 1/4” per 12” minimum, and adequate venting being very important. When your system was being installed there was a huge stone in the way of the pipe line and some chipping was done and I suspect that the minimum pitch wasn’t maintained straight and true to the septic tank. There should have been a large vent coming up at the toilet end of the sewer line connection. Hope this helps, all this information is available online.

Thanks Antonio! Yes, it's definitely a combination of these things. I do think the fall is not correct - and yes, that big stone they didn't chip away all the way is definitely causing an upwards bend in the line - which defeats the purpose. I might attempt to make the fix plan myself - can't be worse, right?! haha

@@GirlMeetsFarm if the stone is granite, you’ll require a pneumatic jackhammer. Pace off the distance to the septic tank in feet and divide by 4 to get the fall, IE, every four feet requires an inch of fall, you might get away with with slightly less if you are lucky

I think I’d have flung my arms to the sky and put in a posh compost loo.

haha - yeah, I started off with one of those which I had made (outhouse), but there is nothing like being able to flush a loo :D I'm still holding out to get this fix - or fix it myself. (can't be worse, right?!) haha

Honestly, I'm considering this! I kinda know the stumbling blocks - but I also don't know what I don't know - and how it could be even better - which is why I wanted to chat to an engineer - but I'm just about to give this a go myself!

Hire a mini digger with a pecker and do it yourself, and from the door go from 4 inch to 6 inch and feed your gutter water through the same chanel so u get the was away

I am really leaning towards this! That is also really good advice regarding the gutter water to help constantly flush the line. Thank you!
