I have always loved the beautiful and extremely talented actress, singer, dancer, and entertainer Shani Wallis! Shani Wallis should have won the Golden Globe Award, the Academy Award and the BAFTA Award for best actress for her brilliant portrayal of Nancy! It should be Dame Shani Wallis! I was born in 1978! The 1968 classic movie Oliver! is perfect and is one of my favorite movies of all time! I love it! Thank you for posting and sharing this classic movie musical number!

I love how this song starts off as like a friend/mother/son song and then it smoothly transitions into a criminal gang singing to their leader

Fagin busting in with his tiny umbrella and a feather stuck on the back of his head and manically dancing with more energy than the boys is the type of insanity that this number needs to achieve transcendence. 👏🙌

It's because they still see Fagin as a carer, teacher and, (if somewhat dodgy) parental figure. They're pretty much orphans living in squalor, so it's a "look after each other, when we provide for each other."

Yeah Fagin was definitely the party crasher in this scene. In fact, I think he easily stole the show in this movie.

My favourite part has to be when Nancy says “My Bill” it really shows how much she cared for him but obviously he did not care so much for her. This whole scene shows how much the boys care for her and would give anything for her unlike Bill.

I got snuck in to see this at the pictures, I was 6. Didn't really understand what the film was about at the time, but it's where my love of music started. Watched it again when I was 12 and was by that time able to understand. What I did have though when watching as a 12 year old a total crush on Shani Wallace who played Nanci. Brilliant actress and wonderful singer.

For ages, I didn't see Fagin as a villain, at least not until I read the book, and fully saw Sykes as the main villain. Looking back I see it, but when you see Ron Moody's brilliant performance, it's hard to see him as one. He's the sympathetic villain. You know he's taking the boys for a ride, but you take more sympathy on him than on Sykes, especially as Sykes kills Nancy. (spoiler)

The book also indicates that there has been more than one 'artful dodger' in the past ...

This duteously thought-out and beauteously acted-out classic musical segment in Sir Carol Reed's enthralling-and-excelling film rendition of Mr Lionel Bart's best-loved stage musical "Oliver!" is all in all supplemented with the right ingredients so as to come up with something quite authentically joshing and ravishing in spectacle and in some way to tune up fairly this Mr Charles Dickens' poignant tale about the bummed-out and tumble-down livings of the corrupted-and-exploited ragamuffins in the murky poverty-stricken ghetto in the time of the 19th century London. For this reason in the midst of the deplorable angst one can still find something good enough to sing about.Set in the well-designed ramshackle soot-stained burrow this entire sequence ( being profoundly and roundly perked up by the commendable and formidable performances of the leading and supporting casts in particular Mr Ron Moody,Mr Jack Wild, and Ms Shani Wallis; the effervescent and magnificent dance-steps;the sparkling and startling scene-execution;the back-slapping and heart-stopping song;and the conjointly prolific-and-terrific works in the costume-designing,the set-designing,the camerawork, the editing, and the musical scoring ) is simply unique in fine point, life force, and right dimension. This absolute gem will do anything to heartily-and-steadily provide a purely classical-and-magical musical treat for the whole family most especially during the holiday season.

Nancy looks too clean and nice ; the film was very whitewashed with an eye to family entertainment.Oliver Reed was the only actor who gave the piece true Dickensian grit and tension.I much prefer a really professional stage production of “Oliver”.

Well, when you're playing the main villain with no musical piece, it makes sense. But yes, don't watch this then read the book, for like I did, you'd be very disappointed.
