The first song was so awesome!!! At the beginning of the song, I was like “oh, these string instruments are so nice”, then this early 2000’s style punk hits me right in the face, and I just started laughing because I didn’t expect it. I normally do not like punk, but wow, that song was bad ass!!! Olivia Rodrigo is like a songwriting prodigy; She is so young, but so talented in how she arranges words! What I admire most about her writing is how masterful she uses contrasts in songs she has bridges! I absolutely am obsessed with the “Driver’s License” bridge!

Yes yes yes to all of this!! That contrast really makes you wake up and jump out of your chair! I agree, she is a songwriting genius and I can’t wait to watch her career continue to blossom!

“You didn’t cheat, but you’re still a traitor” what a line. Did you watch the Driving Home 2 U version when she uses looping equipment and bangs on a guitar for percussion? Did you listen to her new song Vampire?

Welcome!! So great to meet you, and thanks for checking out the channel! And I’ve been there too! Was a big switch for me writing in a band to writing solo, but it’s definitely been a fun journey.

Prosody/word painting? I think that's what you meant in Deja Vu. I couldn't remember either so I had to look it up 😂 Enjoyed your reactions from a songwriting point of view!

Heey loved the video :) It's interesting how "brutal" go through like 3 different emotions (much like teenagers). Starts beautifully, goes rebellious and it ends kind of sad.. Just a side note, the effect you hear on her voice is not really a telephone effect, it's more like plain harmonic distortion. But I totally agree, it gives the vocals THAT edge. "Traitor" has some MAJOR Sam Smith vibes There is a weird "hit" around 2.00 on the fourth song Ok... "deja vu" is a little too much for me since it's the third song in a row with that type of narrative (poor me, a boy is being mean) haha I will keep listening tomorrow :)

You are awesome!!! And ty so much about the name of that vocal effect! Now I know what to ask for when I’m working with my producer! And spoiler alert for the rest of the album- I think all but one are breakup songs haha. This whole album is a teenage girl breakup anthem and I am here for it!!
