That's why Noah is so fast and getting even faster by the seasons. He knows and studies the former kings of the sport. As Asafa, out of Championship races...Noah doesn't panic and always finishes. He may not have the start 85% of the time but he really finishes...which almost always gives him the edge.

Asafa Powell for example ran 97 races below 10 seconds but his fastest was 9.72 and that's in the books as 3rd fastest ever (2nd place is tie between Blake and Gay obviously). It's the same in any track and field event where you take the best effort from each athlete like in the long jump high jump ect. (you don't know the rules or something?) And if you go by times being in the top 100 all-time is nothing to laugh at (seriously how many FAT races have been run since the 1968 Olympics in the 100m? 10s of thousands, hundreds of thousands?). Where are you on that list? I'm going to get there eventually myself and I don't disrespect anyone who works hard and competes just like any other intelligent respectable person wouldn't.

I love Noah. People despise him for his greatness and pure honesty. He means no harm. Lot of people sugar coat. He’s a young track historian. That’s why he is who he is. His mom built him this way. He’s been coached, he has been trained by the best, his entire team is immaculate. I just hate what happened in Paris. There’s not much track time left. But great job.

I used to sprint in high school and after an Injury lost the love for it. I feel back in love with sprinting watching Asafa Powell’s form. I’ve never seen a more consistent, graceful sprinter in my life. Everyone looks like their struggling, evvvveryone. Whether he wins or loses, his form remains. Beautiful technique!

For all the asafa haters. Lyles knows a thing or two about running. He said Powell's form and whole race aspect is perfect when hes not under pressure. Hes proved it with all his WR which were outside of major champions. Asafa unfortunately is a mental midget. Asafa being perfect doesnt mean hes the fastest. Bolt is. But even bolts form was incorrect hence people said if he perfected his form or ran a perfect race hed get sub 9.5. Which he was capable of. However, asafa has consistency running sub 10 seconds. No ones said asafa is the best period but hes an example for runners. Nornal runners cannot copy bolt becuas he was a freak of nature.

Running multiple rounds is a physiological challenge that some sprinters handle better than others. Asafa wasn't able to string together 3+ races, similar to Leroy Burrell.

Asafa Powell suffered from multiple injuries, he was no "choker" , he ran with injuries and some of injuries just wasn't worth him going out there and further injuring himself... Asafa Powell was once the WR holder of 9.72 over 100m, 3rd fastest in the world and he ran it so easily. He's ran the most sub 10 races during his career, 97.

This sounds like a back-handed compliment...especially the first part about him being a choker and the latter part about when he is not under pressure and that he had a mindset problem 😂. Growing up, Asafa Powell was the sprinting god of the world, such an impressive sprinter! And good on Noah Lyles being objective, most NBA players would have said they are the best.

Finally, someone that actually ‘watch’. Asafa powell had some unique way of sprinting, and his running style is cool too. Please dont preach me about bolt and blake. We all know they were beasts.

Perfect mindset there, he races how he wants, and I think when your at top sprinting speed, or when you stay sprinting hard, your most comfortable

Asafa has been one of my favorite track athletes before Bolt and after Bolt. I was going to name one of my sons after him.

1 million and one percent agree. Asafa is who I would watch to help improve my sprinting. Hands down the best form. Do we think the problem was in him and pressure would get to him or he would not peak at the right times?
