1. Yang Tae Young should have been deducted .2 on his parallel bar routine for stopping 4 times, that was pointed out on USA broadcast. You don't want to go back after event and fix that mistake, huh ? 2. His maximum score for high bar - start value - was too HIGH as he repeated an In-bar endo full pirouette to mixed grip that should have received no value, but was given an additional score 3. AND MOST IMPORTANT - the rules of the sport are that the scoring must be challenged immediately before the gymnasts move to the next equipment or here before the medals are presented & event over. Korean coaches didn't challenge until competition completely done - their failure.
@@1158scott dude, repeating one element was allowed back when 2004..... you can see Tomita also did it twice..

That’s contro because of the judging errors for both of their scores! I enjoy yang tae young’s gymnastics way more than Paul’s but Paul did deserve that medal in the end

It's kind of depressing to watch this and it shouldn't be. What is with this narrative that Paul Hamm did something wrong? I'll never understand hating a gymnast bc of how the judges score them. The scoring was super messed up all over in MAG and WAG that Olympics and that's frustrating. As a fan we want "gymnastics justice" but in this case there were judging errors on both of their routines. Why does one judging error matter more than another? Paul still would have won if those mistakes were properly scored. So he should voluntarily give up his gold medal knowing that? It's horrible how he was vilified by people for winning a competition that he had nothing to do with scoring.

It was the judges' mistake, so why couldn't the IOC give the gold medals for both Hamm & Yang? And don't forget that Hamm himself said in the press that he would return the medal if being required, but the USOC hid the FIG president's letter from him. The comments show that the majority believe the gold medal belongs to Yang Tae-young.

I agree, even tho the inquiry was made after the competition was over, it was still the judges' fault, they both should get gold at least

@@mht4908 - Point is, it wasn't. The gold is Hamm's and rightfully so.

Agree. Apparently, the national Olympic committees for both the U.S and Korea suggested they each receive gold medals, and the IOC refused, making everything worse. The IOC then tried to push this on FIG, who tried to push this on Hamm. So Young was screwed out of gold and Hamm was placed in a no win situation because they refused to simply give two golds after realizing the mistake.

PAUL HAMM is the WINNER !!! The ONLY REAL WINNER. !!! No need to rescore Yang Tae Young being OVER SCORED in both parallel bars & high bars, because the failed, inattentive, Korean coaches didn't challenge the results til after the event was over & that's TOO LATE by the RULES.
