Great video! First of yours I've seen. I found it searching for "olympus 45mm f1.2 vs 25mm". I love your story telling style and I subscribed. And then I went to Amazon and bought the 45mm 1.2. (Too bad you don't have an Amazon affiliate link!) I'm really curious if, three years after you made this video, it you are still shooting with Micro 4/3 cameras??!?

Thank you for that Casey! Appreciate it. Hope you will be happy with the lens. I still use it. Especially in low light conditions. I usually photograph with a full frame S1 nowadays, but I always bring my GH5 with me as well. I would reckon it’s almost 5050 🙂

Wow man didn’t realize you work around photography as much as you do. Must be why your eye for composition is getting so good. :) Nice lens choice and definitely makes sense. I think it’s important to have those conversations of whether we’re really using the expensive gear we have. I think I’m about to have that talk with my Zeiss 21mm. 😔 Anyways thanks for sharing man. Meget fine resultater.

Next time you try to go out and shoot astrophotography and maybe film a vlog, be kind to yourself and get a torch that has a red light. It will be slightly better for your eyes since when out in the dark human eyes need a full 30 mins to fully adjust in the dark. Also I have to say that you’ve missed an opportunity to shoot some astro landscapes. You were out after all, right? 😀 the ice crystals were beautiful and I am dreaming to shoot something like that one day, but I am living in the Mediterranean so we don’t get conditions like that often. I hope your new lenses work for you and that in the coming year you fine tune your style and have many beautiful photos to come. Merry Christmas and all the best to you and your family!

Nice video mate, glad you are feeling better. Those lenses look quality, they have the same clutch focus as the fuji primes. I guess you could get a cheap set of macro tubes to replace your macro lens that you sold. I picked a 10mm and 16mm up for about 20quid. 👍

Great discussion on your new lenses, even though my heart broke a little when you said you sold your macro lens... I mean, it makes sense if you don't use it, but I love macro so much haha! Those ice crystals, wow! That would be heaven on earth for me. You photographed and filmed them beautifully! I like your style very much, it's good for me to see someone experimenting with landscapes with a shallow depth of field, because my lenses are almost always wide open, I love isolating certain parts that interest me the most in an image and sometimes I feel a bit lonely because most photographers here on YT like every part of their image to be tack sharp, I find that style impressive but I just can't seem to fall into the same category. Anyway, well done showing your new lenses, I'm looking forward to seeing more!

Thank you so much Liesl! Very kind of you to say so! Yeah, of the two lenses I sold I will definetly miss the macro the most! I’kl probably get one within a year, probably after the first time I stumble over another set of Ice crystals 👍🦊 I find it all depends on the composition, using depht of field, different comps require different styles! Not your usual forte maybe but, l like you say, we are in the business. :) I absolutely love shallow depth of field and that is what I almost always imagine when I dream up an image I want to take. So I had to learn to use a smaller aperture for my landscape photography. Even so, I never had anything under f4, but then I purchased my first 50mm f1.4. You should have seen me, laying on the ground in the middle of the park, trying to focus on this one leaf on the path that was catching the afternoon light. I was in heaven and didn't care who was watching! Silly, I know, ha. :) I really enjoyed the video!

What is the T stop on the Olympus lenses? Any idea on how the Olympus 1.2 pro lenses compare to the Voigtlanders 0.95 as for light transmission? Good video, cheers!
@oddbjrnaustevikfoto
5 жыл бұрын
Hi dantino! I have no idea what the T-stop is, sorry! Not even sure how to test it.. I only had a short play with the voigtlander inside the camera store, so I cant say for sure. The voigtlander have no weather sealment and no autofocus. Normally that’s no problem, but it’s nice to have autofocus when covering an event / wedding and you’re shooting wide open because of dark places :) especially when it’s 0.95!

Funny video but thats the reason I love to watch them. You are honest down to the bone and that´s great! Don´t ever change!! Swapping lenses to primes with a small aperture will change your way of seeing subjects and generally improve your photography. To zoom you have to use your legs now but once you get used to the focal length it will be really easy and the results will be fabulous. I´m looking forward seeing what you´re creating with your new lenses.

Looks like you chose a couple of great lenses for your needs. I'm sure you will enjoy them. I only have one prime lens and I rarely use it, I guess I am just used to the convenience of the zoom and most of my shots are outdoors and I have little use for a fast lens so I doubt I could justify buying these. I'm just learning how to use an Olympus 5 mark II I bought after being a Canon user. Mostly for travel - I've struggled to learn it's complicated menu. Luckily I bought the Pro 12-40mm lens instead of the kit lens. Now it's time to learn how you use it and get my money's worth before I consider changing it! I'm going to get the lower-priced 25mm and 45mm because I'm not sure how committed I am to Olympus yet. Love your channel. As an introvert, I'm a little overwhelmed by the fast-talking Americans. I appreciate your unique reflective style.

I think you're quite fast to up the ISO. After looking at different cameras on Photonstophotos, I realized how quickly MFT-cameras lose their dynamic range. Since I like to tweek images, the noise becomes visible quite fast. So I try to stick to iso 2oo and maybe a seldom time go up to 4 or 8 hundred. I have a EM1 (which I love), which might be comparable to your gh5 (which have broadly one stop more IT). Just a thought...nice video as always! (IG: @thedavidbrother)

Not usually, but in this video I did (I usually stay around 100-200)! I completely agree with you by the way, noise is quite visible at ISO 800! If I remembered correctly, the reason I bumped up the ISO in this video was to get a faster shutterspeed when using the 15 stop filter. I didn't want a one minute exposure :) Thanks mate :)

@@oddbjrnaustevikfoto Ok, I thought you were aware. Had to doublecheck, and EM1 vs GH5 is basically exactly the same. Difference is GH5 has a LOW setting with better range, while EM1 gets worse on LOW.
