Thanks for the excellent overview! I've been using the LS-14 for about as far back as this video was produced, and I might mention a couple of features and quirk or two: 1, When you power-off as shown, the unit seems to go into a low-power stand-by rather than 'OFF' ]. Switching the power switch to the 'Hold' position after powering down should prevent the batteries from draining when in storage. 2, with the center mic on, my unit does not go completely mono but still has some semblance of stereo channeling in addition to the center mic. 3, If you set the USB to 'Composite' mode the LS-14 can be used as A USB PC Microphone and a PC audio output, both via the earphone jack and internal speaker. 4, In PCM recording mode, it records in either 44.1khz or 96khz sample rate with no 48khz option for video, so you may need to down-sample the audio files to 48KHZ to use with some editing packages, audio players and software, and mobile phones. 5. Olympus dis offer an ac-USB power adapter, but by setting the USB power option to "Power Adapter", connecting the USB port to a USB power adapter, battery power brick or PC will power the unit externally. And if you use rechargeable batteries, it may trickle charge them.

Hi mate, I have the chance of buying one of these quite cheaply and was wondering if I can record the audio into the unit from my mixer, and then run it into my iPhone 7plus to capture the video so I actually get the good quality audio from the unit itself... so probably using it as a form of interface? Would greatly appreciate any knowledge you may have about this? Cheers Gerard

Yes that should work IF the iphone 7 has a headphone socket ....and now that I think about it, I don't think it does right? It won't feed audio into the iphone digitally 'live' but you could do the recording and filming separately and then sync them up later. Just use a visual/noise signal at the beginning of your vid, like one of those hollywood clapper things...

Thanks for that mate, was trying to do it all in one take to avoid syncing I guess... yes you are right the 7plus does not have headphone socket. I was thinking maybe an apple camera connection kit or something. Would you anticipate a good quality recording coming out of my mixer into the device anyway? I’m sort of like a one man band type and would want some great quality audio? If I could get that easy enough without having to go into recording programs etc, I would try this. Thanks
