46 THUMBS DOWN??? As far as playing goes... Hahahaha, come on guys. If you can destroy a set like this and just oooze amazing ability, OK, then say something. If not... Shhhhhh... Master performance... ...and yes, dude is so amazing, he can ham it up for the camera when most of us would be a sweaty mess and probably wearing a tuxedo which would limit our mobility and cause some type of injury? ;) The clothing comment when I first read it was a bit much, but when I actually thought about it, the rest of these Orchestra cats are suited up - maybe a shirt with a collar could get a passing grade on dress code? And I say this only because my wife would tear my ass up if I wore a T-Shirt to a gig like this... Haha. The era that Buddy Rich played in - those guys played in suits. As always, Omar Hakim - amazing. Utmost respect.

I've watched that video a number of times, however Omar and Bill Stewart demonstrably demonstrate that matched grip does not present any limitations. Bonham's cross overs are also another example, and of course Cobham and Beauford. However use of both grips is certainly a good move! There shouldn't be reasons for BR to be upset with Hakim. He is a really gifted drummer with groove and a very smooth sound.. Listen to music, don't judge it only with eyes or hypocritical preconcections about grip or clothing styles. Morover, BR learn drumming "old school style" with a massive study of the snare drums with its rudiments, basically followed from army march styles. I think there is not a problem for using a grip instead of another one, independently from music genre. Hakim rules
