Personally I disagree. I would say he was pretty consistent. He never denounced his sexuality. He was just another street criminal that happened to be attracted to men.
@Rubingah
3 жыл бұрын
@@MatthewBates9124 not about who he loved, but how. For such a hard man, he had a distinctly honest soft side that some other characters never fully expressed. Stringer sure didn't - I don't think we ever thought that he truly cared for Donette. Avon did a little with his family, but that became less and less part of him as time went on. Most of the cops had bad relationships at home, too. Omar seemed the only person who was with somebody who he truly loved, without pretense - yet he was the most feared name on the street for years. If not a contradiction (humans are complicated!), it's certainly against viewer expectation.
@MatthewBates9124
3 жыл бұрын
@@Rubingah I have not thought about it like that. But that's so true. Omar's relationship with Brandon was the only one that had commitment. As you said all the characters had such strained relationships with their loved ones due to their responsiblities. In my opinion, Omar's and Brandon's relationship might have been the most beautiful in the whole show. Given that, it just makes Brandon's death all the more tragic

If Stringer and the soldiers simply shot Brandon in the head instead of adding all that torture, then Bird wouldn't be in prison. Omar stepped up his game because of the gruesome torture. I do think that Omar still would've shot Stinkum and wounded Wee Bey (but that's all in the game), but he wouldn't have gotten a shot at Avon because he wouldn't go to such a great length.

Maybe its just me but I wish Brandon and Bailey had been developed more during Season 1. I think they were killed off too quickly and I wanted to get to know them more as characters as well as more about their history with Omar. Brandon especially should have been been given more character development or exploration since he was an important part of Omar's life and character arc. Even Omar's later crew (Dante, Kimmie, Tosha, and Renaldo) were given more scenery and characterization in the other seasons. I don't know if I'm alone here but this is a slight flaw I see with the show.
