Thanks for the great review! I'm a big X Men fan, too. I'm in the process of reading Claremont's X Men run. I just ordered this Omnibus so I'm excited to add it to my collection.

X-Men are my favourite team in the Comics too and this Run is my favourite of the team.Chris Claremont can be considered the "real father" of the X-Men and John Byrne is my favourite artist of the team.

I love the Claremont run all the way through. I agree with all your comments. It's remarkable how close we are to having the whole run now in over sized hardcover.

You've convinced me to give the Claremont run of X Men a read. I've always been hesitant about team books because they often feel crowded with no room for too much relationship stuff, but your description of Claremont's focus on X Men as a family is really appealing. Now I just have to find a copy to read!

I JUST found this. I've been a lifelong X-Men fan -- Storm is my favorite fictional character ever -- and THIS is the stuff that got me into it. I watched the 90s cartoon, and liked the team, but the comics are where stuff reaslly started to take off for me.

It's jarring to think that the two omnibus collections released so far constitute only 1/3rd of Claremont's run. I sincerely hope you can get through the entirety of it, there is some under-appreciated yet supremely fascinating stuff in the latter half of those 17 years. Good luck. I'll be tuning in.

I recently finished watching the 90s X-Men animated series and loved it, and am interested in starting reading the comics, would these uncanny x-men omnibus collections be a good place to start? I know there's X-men books previous to this (ie X-men omnibus vol 1 & 2) but they're very expensive, these ones not so much, thanks

Excellent review. I agree about these being such classic comics, and well worth reading. And I agree that John Byrne may very well be the definitive X-Men artist. My only complaint with Byrne is....it really becomes apparent when he comes on the title with issue 108, that the book becomes "Wolverine and Co." When I read the issues now, I don't like that. John Byrne bringing Wolverine to the forefront so prominently I find a little irritating now. It's so obvious that Logan was his favorite, and if you closely watch his art, Banshee, Colossus and Nightcrawler are obviously NOT his favorites. But that is really a small gripe. Classic stuff!

All these Marvel omnibus books and Marvel Masterworks books are so damn expensive. Wish they were cheaper. Sucks too because my local comic/book stores have absolutely no X-Men comics at all except for random back issues (I was able to find Classic X-Men #1).

Have a question for you, I'm a hugh Spider-Man , x-men guy. I starting to collect Omnibus, would it be wise to buy uncanny vol 2 and xmen vol 2 both Clairment runs, and roger stern spider, because right now they are available on In stock trades cheap, they will not be there forever I take it, or should I get joe jelly Deadpool, and Zombies, why would you doe?

Hey, Ryley. Did you get the Spider-verse HC yet? I'm interested in getting it, but I've noticed it has a binding problem. It is glued, right? I'd like to see you address it in a video. Congrats on your channel and your collection, they're awesome.

***** Oh noes... do you still think this is worth it anyway? I already got the ASM paperback and Spider-verse would be the direct sequel to that, and Spidey is my favorite superhero, so I want to keep reading it. Do you think I should get it or maybe just keep buying TPBs?

Hey Ryley, I am a new subscriber. Great videos man! I have been collecting and reading Manga for over a year now, but I am just now starting to explore the world of western comics. Problem is, I don't know where to start. The first thing I have noticed is that there are a ton to choose from, but also western comics seem a lot more pricey than the manga I am use to buying. Do you have any series you would recommend I start with? The only one I have ordered so far is The Watchmen. It was surprisingly cheap ($11 for 400 pages in paperback) and I have heard it has critical aclaim. It has not come in, but I am super excited to read it. Here is my question to you. What are a few things that you would recommend? These omnibus are beautiful, but I don't know if I can afford such a huge investment on something I have never even sampled before. Thanks for any help you or anyone else can give!

I've got to be honest, I really don't like this run at all. I find it too wordy, dull and confusing. While I generally don't like that old-school narration you get in comics from before the late 80s, I can usually overlook it, but Claremont's narration is SO redundant, copious and boring that I find reading Uncanny X-Men to be an absolute chore.
