[SPOILER] I have never missed a fictional character that much in my life. And it's so bittersweet thinking back, you never actually meet her. All you know about Mari comes from her dream version that Sunny created and the stories his friends tell. The amount of positive influence she had on everyone and the massive hole she left behind when she was gone is all we have of her. And yet you can really feel her presence everywhere you go. This warm yet melancholic feeling. The sun truly did shine brighter when she was here.

spoiler warning even though thats pretty obvious I came into the game spoiled, but not too heavily. I knew Mari was dead, and I knew Sunny and Basil had to do with it. Also, the person who reccomended it to me was... not very good at keeping things interesting, let's say. After the treehouse cutscene, I had saved and left the game, and mentioned it to them, asking like, "Wait, so Mari killed herself???" and they kind of just... spoiled me completely. Told me the truth about her death and all. Good thing about relating to Sunny, however, is that I can easily throw those kinds of information to the side while I'm playing lmao. My subconscious knew the truth, but it was still fucking terrifying seeing it in game. I think it had an extra effect on me BECAUSE I was, to an extent, doing the same thing Sunny did. Ignoring the truth and living in blissful ignorance until it hit me in the face with the pictures. But at the very least, the truth was the only thing I was spoiled on. Sure, it may be a core thing to the game, but there's so much more to it. I cried during the church scene with Aubrey. That, and the end credits. I think the Aubrey scene was because of some more personal stuff about relating to it a bit too much for comfort, while the end credits were... When it hit me. All that that happened was real. Well, not real, but it was all unchangeable. It was just how the game was. The end was not a "fix all, everybody's happy ever after", it was realistic. And so, I cried, because I had played through the second half of Blackspace until the very end of the game (about 6 hours) in one sitting, and it just didn't hit me until the soft tune of the piano playing Good Morning started, that this was it. All that happened was truly just it. Sure, there may be alternative endings and routes, but the story is unchangeable. Long story short, 9/10 game loved every aspect of it, story is a 10/10, gameplay a solid 8, the only thing id change is how little the fans theorize as a deltarune/undertale fan who lives on walls of text like the one i just wrote. Wish i could brainrot more about it but thats just life

@@sfisher923 I disagree, beating the crap out of Aubrey is one of my favorite parts of Omori
Me too. And to think OMORI created HEADSPACE MARI with this specific song makes it even more tragic; it almost makes it feel not real and simply all an illusion - but yet, it brings warmth, comfort, and everything to OMORI, which is why he stayed in WHITE SPACE. This song is so important to me too, it reminds me of my personal times when I’ve avoided my own personal issues while trying to lighten up the situation instead of facing it. Either way, this song is so important to the game and I think it just reveals the nature of OMORI; an alternative ego created by SUNNY to protect himself-it is such a beautiful and devastating song.

This is just such a great song, it’s no wonder it became iconic. Your dear sister Mari, with the most motherly theme imaginable, it's like a better version of Fallen Down, with a much more carefree melody while still feeling safe and comforting. It dances around lightly, yet has this warm supportive section that comes together into the theme of a cheerful older sister who’s perfect in every way (to a mortal degree…). It perfectly encapsulates how much Sunny cares about her and how highly he holds her, and listening to this theme always leaves my gut wrenched knowing she’s still dead. Ugh I love this theme so much. And speaking of Fallen Down, it's interesting how both songs are manipulated into much creepier versions of themselves later into the game...

Most OMORI veterans would say "Duet" was the main tearjerker of the game's music, but that one does not make me even half as emotional as this one.
@omorifan6011

Duet surely makes me cry, not gonna lie, if wouldn't be held back by my "i don't cry" thing i am used to do, i would just cry like a kid. By your side, makes me cry, yes, but for a different reason By your side makes me feel conforted, but that feeling slowly turns to sadness realizing Sunny doesn't have anyone anymore (i'm talking about the 4 years, not the game itself". While duet is the literal definition of "you had fun playing the game? Now here's this cutscene that shows how everyone was happy as fuck before you become depressed"

I actually feel closer to By Your Side. Somehow it gives me such a deep yet simple feeling of nostalgia, of longing for things I once had, for times that can never come back. And it wasn't due to the story, I felt that when I first heard it, putting photos on Basil's album. At the time I didn't even know what the game was about... turns out this song is the one that managed to deliver the message perfectly. Which is why it's still my fave, even though I love Duet, Lost Library and Good Morning

Spoilers: That scene where you put the photos of Mari that Aubrey stole in the photo album was the first time I cried while playing through Omori. One thing this game is incredibly good at is establishing "hey look at this fun happy song" and then later turning it around and going "haha tricked you, this song is actually super sad, we were just building up to make it more painful :)" This song is so comforting, especially after the rest of the OST up to this point is so strange, it's like finally finding something familiar even when it's your first time hearing it. I think aside from Duet, this was possibly the most painful song to come back to after beating the game for me. Definitely very high up that list

Not to mention the artist decided to name the song with a period, "By your side *.* " not just "by your side" It's a testament to how much she loved her brother and sought to always encourage and protect him; As well as a grim reminder of omori's mistake. Hey OMO Cat! Leaving this comment here on one of my favorite tracks. Thanks for making OMORI. This game was one of the best RPGs I've played, from mechanics to art style to storytelling. I learned of the game four years back during my high school days, and I looked forward to game, and after playing through OMORI can I say that the years we have waited were worth it. One thing I loved about the game was the friendship between the main character and all of his friends, to see this dynamic constantly throughout the game and sometimes seeing it fall apart made me cherish how comforting friends can be. My friends and I have since split apart, and to be honest.. I forgot the feeling of hanging out with my buddies, eating together and playing games and just enjoying life while we were still young. This game really helped fill that empty hole, and for once in a long time did I feel like I actually hung out with people I considered closely as friends. it's a feeling I missed, and glad that I experienced one more time here. The story that drives these kids in the game had them going through various hurdles in the process, but with every obstacle they overcome, they grew stronger as friends, and they'll always stay friends. Thank you for this amazing experience, OMO Cat.

This song actually played in one of my dreams I had and it’s funny since it was (kinda? not really) related to mari- I have a older sister that isn’t really my older sister. Well not by blood I just see them as a older sister figure. Sometimes I even call them mari because their name actually rhymes with it lol. I had a dream about them actually I was way younger than I am probably around eight or nine years old and it seems I couldn’t go to sleep so I climbed up and saw my big sis sleeping (which surprisingly in my dream looked like mari and not what they actually look like LOL) and I decided to get in bed with them too. For some reason even though it was just a dream the bed was so warm- but not the type of warm that would get you hot- the type of warm you feel when drinking hot coco on a cold morning type of warm it was so comfortable. What made it even better was soon after I came in bed my big sister was hugging me so not was I only warm because of my blankets but also warm because of the hug too and I could’ve sworn I heard this song faintly playing in the background too- I have to say that was probably the best dream I ever had. Even if it was just a dream I felt so comfortable and safe.

Great dream. I had one where I was dealing with my family in a stranger's warped house. Curiously Mari was there standing in a room with a carpet and a big opaque UT-like mirror. She was her ghost self. Had a lovely convo about the family dynamics. Felt very accurate, didn't think to break the spell because it was actually very insightful of what a different version of myself would think of them (my dreams that I can remember are 48/50 times lucid). I finished the game today, bought it on Christmas day on release all thanks to a good friend of mine. Fantastic game, very much so worth the wait, amazing to see how much has changed and has been altered, I'm sure for the better. Congrats on finally accomplishing the game release, good luck in the work ahead, cannot wait to see what else comes of you and your team, and please have a happy and safe new years! 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ !!!!SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NOT FULLY PLAYED THE GAME!!!! The moment I cried was when you had the option to spend the last day with Hero, Kel and Aubrey during the 'real world', and the activity that broke me was them visiting Mari's grave after four years of being separated. I bought flowers early on during Three Days Left, not knowing if they would be needed, but I'm grateful that I did, cause the picnic option after that was the literal salt in the wound. Just teared up and silently cried as I watched the four chat beside Mari's grave. This song of course played in the background, and was the saddest most excellent use of this track that constantly played throughout the game. I honestly can't help but well up tears when I hear it, because of how tragic it all 'ended'. Lordy, don't even get me started when you had to collect all the photos for the 'second' photo-album. That whole scenario was utterly horrifying. The twist of the last photo left me gobsmacked, not to mention how it all started. Fantastic game, deffos one I'm gonna replay over and over again.

i dont cry often... like ever, but this game did me in lol. this game was able to get more tears out of me than my great grandmothers passing. i feel like the raw emotion and story telling of this game is something no other game can match and no other game will be able to match for a while. this is by far my favourite game of all time. Thank you omocat

this theme was just there at the start, now it's just happy and very sad at the same time. the slow version when you have a picnic on the grave really hit me

This song feels so bittersweet, as if you were being reassured that everything is gonna be okay, that you are forgiven, but at the same time the one who's reassuring you is the spirit of someone you love, gone long ago. Truly perfect for this game, perfect for Mari.

Start of the game: Aw, these kids are so nice! They’re just vibing at a picnic together. This theme is great! End of the game: *Sobbing intensifies*

2 months since I finished the game and this music still instantly makes me start crying and it'll likely do the same for a long time. No other game has ever touched me on such a deeply emotional level. Omori was so tragically beautiful. Truly a masterpiece.

I'm a very nostalgic person and i miss how in the past (when i was 12-13 years old on 2017) i was able to have fun with my school friends most of the time, but the school closed, the group got separated, other issues has happened on every one's lives and i hadn't felt like someone relevant on a friends' group since then When i played Omori and this started sounding and everyone got reunited on Aubrey's house and filled up again the Photo Album, i wanted to cry because my gosh that sense of 'sad nostalgia' felt too relatable, specially due to the sense of: "I miss having fun with my friends"... Yes, some of them are there again, but it'll hardly be the same after all the stuff that has happened since the group got separated
