As part of our summer speaker series last June, we were honored to host world-renowned Tibetan Buddhist teacher, Pema Chödrön, and Father Greg in Royce Hall for a conversation exploring the power of kinship and how we can awaken courage and compassion amidst our greatest challenges. Proceeds from the evening benefitted the mission of Homeboy Industries. Listen to the entirety of their conversation here!
Located in downtown Los Angeles, Homeboy Industries provides paths to healing for formerly gang involved and previously incarcerated men and women so they can redirect their lives and become contributing members of society. With the belief that free access to resources such as mental health services, educational classes, and mentorship provides a more holistic approach to reentry, Homeboy Industries helps its clients own their pasts and transform their futures. By utilizing a combination of donations and social enterprises, Homeboy Industries is a 30-year-old 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose innovative model of therapeutic wraparound services has helped the organization become one of the most successful reentry programs in the United States.
