The desire to be pleasing in God's sight, regardless of whatever is going on around us, is a very powerful force for good. Our relationship with our Creator is rightfully the most important thing of all, because, even more than our human parent's, God is the original source of our life. In reviewing what happened in the garden of Eden with Adam and Eve, we see that Adam's sin was actually putting his relationship with his wife ahead of his relationship with his Creator. In a sense that was false worship on his part because he was taking the loyalty that was due to his Creator and instead giving it to Eve. That was extremely short sighted thinking on his part and look at the huge mess that has resulted. It is the same for us. If someone or something is tempting us to damage our relationship with God, is that person or thing really worthy of our worship? The Bible says that our Creator is a jealous God, in the sense that he requires our worship to go only to Him, again, rightfully so. God made us, God love's us dearly, so just like loving human parents He has no desire to unduly restrict us or deny us legitimate pleasure without good reason. Even though we may not always even understand the reason, God knows far more than even the smartest human what will yield the best results in the long run. Don't fall for short term thinking, always go for the long term, after all the long term is what we're gong to have to live with for a very long time, as opposed to the pleasure we are being tempted by, which will be only momentary.

I remember this series! My mom was a PSR (Parish School of Religion) teacher in my middle school years and I remember watching some of these tapes in her class. I remember this was also an actual TV series on INSP. And I think this might have actually been one of the tapes I watched because I remember the "Mike" commercial.
