I've seen every technical piano video on youtube, dealing with arm weight, relaxed hands, and so on. I've read so many articles. Your videos are the most helpful, easily. Thank you so much. The first joint in particular has been a great cause of confusion for me. On certain days, I feel like I can do anything I want at the piano, but 95% of the time, there's a block of some sort preventing this. I believe that these videos will help that a lot. Thanks again.

I can't stress enough how this video helped me. My ring finger used to "flatten" whenever I tried to play, and now I can keep it curved naturally! :D Thank you so much!

But how do you apply this❓You didn't show it on the piano, say with a simple scale.

I have a student, 10, whose fingers are the opposite - the first joint bends both ways. But when he plays, the joints collapse. any suggestions?

This happens to me as well! I found this video when I tried to search for an answer to this problem but I will have to keep looking. It seems to me that strengthening them with help though.

This confuses me a bit I can see how you think the first finger joint in some way has more control if it's more flexible, so the flat finger and pad or more high finger and fingertip different sounds timbre etc etc though your comments about the main knuckle joint were contradicting the research I had done on Alan Frasers work. Also if there are zero muscles in the finger is this exercise to loosen tendons does it really have effect or is it placebo from your attention to the joint only I can see how if your rigid there your tendons may always be tight and it may stretch and help every joint.

I am thinking this does work. My left pinky was injured, leaving the 2nd joint totally frozen. Over a year or so the 1st joint compensated and bends quite easily at a 90 degree angle. It was as I was doing this exercise 24/7 and didn't even realize it.
