E. Ethelbert Miller interviews Eden Raskin, Founder and CEO of Chasing the Moon Productions, about her current project, Notes of a Citizen: The Marcus Raskin Story. In an attempt to fill the deep void left by her father’s death, the daughter of progressive revolutionary Marcus Raskin, Eden Raskin, sets out to investigate her father’s life as a public figure. In doing so, she grapples with new revelations about his indictment for protesting the Vietnam War, his role in releasing the Pentagon Papers, and the assassination of his colleagues on US soil. Through the archives he left behind, the music he played, and intimate conversations, Raskins explores how a piano prodigy from Wisconsin shook up Washington by becoming the conscience of Kennedy’s White House, a proud member of Nixon’s Enemies List, and ultimately a founder of the modern progressive movement.
