I watched this interview when it first came out and there was two body doubles on set.

I'd like to suggest that you look at Madonna's 1995 music video for Bedtime Story. They actually invented a lot of computer technology that they use today for that video. And the surrealist imagery is off the scale on this one. It was made a fixture at The Museum of Modern Art in New York, and was released to cinemas at its release, too.

There is a Frozen raw footage video of the recording for this video, where there are many scenes where you can see almost everything they did. also lots of technical details. Very interesting.
@@manondereeper Link is not accepted by KZitem, I did but it's not appearing. But look for: Madonna - Frozen (RAW FOOTAGE Video & Interview). First half is on set and Chris Cunningham interview.

When I was in high school back in the early-00's my most favorite possessions were my "The Work Of Director" series by Palm Picture. Michel Gondry was my top fav, but Chris Cunningham was a close second. I would watch those DVDs literally everyday. Thank you for your breakdown! This brought back so much nostalgia from when the video came out and when I was in high school

That was a blast from the past. I remember watching this interview back then. I was such a entertainment geek. That dolly/crane combo you mentioned. Would drones replace that sort of shooting these days?
@manondereeper

Great question re drones: they can, but not always! Especially if you're shooting in the US, these jobs are all unionized and so you need to hire specific operators; dolly/crane operators or a drone operator. Mostly those choices are made based on budget - or for example, the amount of space available. Cranes are really big so you don't always have the space to build and operate them and in those cases, drones might be a better solution. Conversely, if you're shooting in an environment where it's really cold or regularly has really bad winds, you would opt for a crane instead. But I do think they would use drones when the circumstances are right!

@@manondereeper Thank you. Given the massive upheavals in the entertainment industry between unions and the corporations in the US, I can imagine the policies for production are rapidly changing.

Reddit + Chris Cunningham brings up somewhat current rumors that's he's gone around the bend, and is a recluse. Beautiful song, beautiful video, and great commentary.
