I saw this watch on display and couldn’t stop thinking about it. WATCHED THIS VIDEO and I am now a proud owner of the black version. Thanks for your review. This is a beautifully crafted timepiece. A+ finish and the detailing on the jubilee bracelet alone makes the price all worth it.🤩

The color of that blue is perfection. The bracelet and clasp are pure quality too. The preview date window at 4 o’ clock is definitely unique, but wish it was at 6 o’ clock like you mentioned. I would’ve been all over this if the date window was repositioned. Still a great watch regardles.

I have this watch in black with black high quality rubber strap. It is an awesome watch. The bezel is ceramic and shows different shades of black depending on lighting. The watch is light (rubber strap) but very solid. I own 3 watches, this is my favorite.

Terrific review. Do you find the Raymond Weil Freelancer to be comparable to the Stowa Prodiver Blue Limited? Your review of the Prodiver was also enthusiastic & I was wondering if you found one preferable to the other. I agree it will be competitive with the Oris Aquis. Color of the Freelance looks similar to the Tudor Pelagos, to my eye. Yet another attractive blue diver...

The video doesn't do it justice. You need to hold it in hand and wear it, to fully appreciate it. I managed to get this for £820 on sale from £1700 (that's right over half off). But having owned it for a week, I would have been happy paying £1700 for it. Its beautiful, perfect weight, great build quality and that jubilee bracelet is sexy AF (my wife loves it, which should tell you all you need to know). For anyone watching the video and are hesitant. I implore you to go to a store and check it out in person. Let's build the rep of Raymond Weil, a very underrated brand that deserves everyone's time and attention. Great review btw.

Yeah, the screw down is a bit tricky. I find you need to put pressure on it while turning for nearly an entire 360 for it to thread on. Perhaps it's just due to having a stronger spring than usual which is fine,rather too strong than too weak. It's not a big deal for me.

Tried this on today .. Think the quality is probably on par with c Ward . It was on sale and was seriously considering it . Unfortunately no half link or micro adjustments is a major flaw . Tried on after being sized it was too slack ,took another link out was a little tight , the clasp didn’t close properly so didn’t inspire confidence , therefore didn’t pull the trigger . This is also around £1000 more expensive than c Ward so in the end I’m glad I didn’t bite even on sale..

Nice review, that bezel its almost identical to the one on the Christopher Ward C60 Trident, even the markings on the bezel [just slightly bolder]. The case and the bracelet instead they remind me of the Zodiac Sea Wolf. So i see it like a Hybrid between the Zodiac and the Ward [not in a bad way], it looks good tho, just hate that date.

Since it is a diver watch the date window makes sense as in low light conditions it is a lot easier to read. Just imagine that you are under deep water. I find some of the traditional date windows too small to read. Raymond Weil designed it brilliantly and it does improve the look of the dial. It makes it more interesting compare to other dials with a tiny date window. I bought this particular watch. The dual 9 layer coating on the glass makes it to look way better than normal sapphire glasses. The rotating bezel has no play at all. Strong and tight. I am absolutely amazed by this watch. No regrets at all.

I have a Ward, Steinhart, and the non-diver 39mm Freelancer. My Raymond Weil has much better fit and finish. Owning all three, I don't think it's even a competition on which one has the highest luxury feel. Overall I think it even out paces my Oris Artix for build quality.
@SG-wj2qj

Jeffrey Bowden as previously mentioned. It'd down to the details, theirs bits you may see like 9 layers of anti glare on a higher quality sapphire lense or how brilliant the ceramic appears. The biggest one is the finishing. To a novice, a Steinhart Ocean One and a Rolex Submariner may seem near identical. But one watch has 8hrs of finishing work put into the case and braclet, face and hands and the other has 80 hours. Thats why one costs $500 and the other $8000. Likewise this Freelancer diver has ALLOT of finishing details that truly set it above it's class. Belive it or not the finishing on this watch is nicer than almost all watches under $2000 and is closer to a higher tier grade like in thr 3-5K mark. That's a selling point to these RW watches. The shere amount of genuine Swiss labour behind it. While where on that "genuine Swiss" remark I made. Another is the little white lie beings "Swiss made". Watch makers are not required to make a watch 100% in Switzerland. Theirs just a few golden rules to follow to make them "legit" as such brands like Rolex and patek really take this tradition to heart and pump out genuine Swiss Made products. Even brands like Breitling, Omega and yes... Raymond-Weil try their best to keep it as swiss as possible. That is not the case with a company like Steinhart. They will meet the minimum requirements to legally get that "Swiss made" logo legally screen printed. I'm not here to bash the brand steinhart. They make a decent watch for the price. But the point to be made here is, don't judge a book by its cover. It's a $500 watch, and it's $500 for a reason. MAYBE with a more reputable branding with horology behind it, a $700-800 watch. Just don't think your getting $2000 watch quality for 1/4 the price.

The bezel movement was loud and looked like it had some play. Also, the watch has the same movement as 400-500 dollar watch. It's way overpriced. You seem a lot more critical of much less expensive watches than this one.

Are you drunk? The Pelagos price is 3.500 dollars and up!.
@1Sanantoniomatute

Sharing the same movement is a non-starter for comparison. Case work and finishing, insulating technologies, any additional movement tweaks or decoration, AND, most importantly, brand and manufacture always tell the rest of the story. Kind-of-like a Toyota Avalon is the same engine and chassis as a loaded entry Lexus , but yeah, we all know why there is AND should be a difference in price. The quality shown everywhere else!
@attilagal6672

Christopher ward doesn't come with 9 layers of anty reflective coating on Both sides! That's already a huge difference. Also the ceramic bezel. 3 years factory world wide warranty. Made in Geneve not in London. It is a far better watch than C. Ward. Every watch is overpriced that's how the make money. Just think that C.Ward is £600 and they still make profit on that model. Think that this Raymond Weil is £1700. Just think of why? Even the movement is not the same. You pay for a lot more little details with Raymond Weil.
@SG-wj2qj
6 жыл бұрын
I'd also like to add it the quality of the fit & finish. Raymond-Weil really did a amazing job on the fit & finish of the watch. Under the magnifing glass you can see the quality finishing, the edges the details they are fantastically executed. Where they cheap out with a ETA or sellita they make up in the details. I've done my shopping I've tried on the competition. It easily sits at top other watches in this tier of watch under $2000. And with a nicer in house movment like the RW1212 this would be punching above it's weight class. The Oris, longines and Tag felt allot cheaper compared to this RW. The Pegalos, black bay, SeaMaster 300 & Breitling Super Ocean Heritage didn't feel worth the extra $1500-2000 compared to this. They felt better but... Not double the price better.

My first all Swiss watch purchase Inherited a Tag Haeur from my Dad, 90s vintage. Comparing the 2,this just feels next level. The Bezel action feels tighter and more precise. The case looks better, the dials are a draw but the RW crystal appears less reflective.
