NASCAR thinking the whole time: "Don't bump draft the LMP. Don't bump draft the LMP"
@patrickfeuillet6878

Jenson Button said this car is very efficient at cornering thanks to the huge engine torque, but lacked top speed due to its rear spoiler. You can actually in this video see that indeed after cornering at Arnage, Rockenfeller manages to stay on the tail of a LMP2 before eventually losing top speed. This car actually lapped faster than GTs like Porsche and Ferrari's. I was at Le Mans and this car was a fan favourite.

@patrickfuilleiut6878 - Yeah; I wish they would get rid of that rear trunk lid, spoiler. In my opinion, the car already has enough downforce they don’t need anymore. I’m sure if they got rid of the rear spoiler it’ll be a lot faster on the straights and It’ll catch up and even pass the LMP2 categories.
@marcelx174
Жыл бұрын
He is not slower as the LMP2 because of too much downforce. Due to a lot of downforce the LPM2 are much faster in the corners. And you can clearly see it. If the Nascar car would have raced Spa, the story would be completely different. Le Mans is quite high speed, good for a Nascar car. In Spa it will be destroyed
@youngrody2386
Жыл бұрын
@@marcelx174 The car's main strength was its handling, so both Mechanical and Aerodynamic grip were good combined with the High Engine Torque. However the LMP2s had more efficient Aero, so they produced less drag for the amount of down force they have. Their downforce numbers are probably similar, hence why the Camaro could keep up in the corners, but on the straights it's the exact opposite.

Imagine if you were transported magically into that Camaro and were , to you, flying along when a LMH car goes by like youre standing still. WTF. I'm not expressing my thought very well but hopefully you get the idea. I started going to Road America in Wisconsin, USA in 1958 and the progress since then is outstanding but the memories from back then are great.

I always said the best thing about a Cup Car was the engine but they have moved on a lot with this Gen with some serious tweaks for Lemans, but I still say the same what an amazing pushrod V8 engine, NASCAR engine art is a serious thing.

🙏 Driving a GT Class car is a good practice of being humble , respectful of others , tolerance & patience when often being overtaken by those super fast Le Mans Hyper cars & the LMP2 cars ... 🙏 🌷🌿🌎💜🕊🇫🇷

Nothing sounds better than an American pushrod V8 being pushed as hard as possible. Absolute ecstacy.

Look for 6200 lb. modified 4x4 truck pulls if you want to hear an American v8 scream at high rpm's.

Jesus Christ on a bike... Didn't you check who took their ninth class win by taking out GT3? Do you really think this was the first time an American V8 has been tat Le Mans. I remember Henri Greder and Marie-Claude Beaumont winning their class back-t-back in a 7-litre Corvette in 1973-74. American engines didn't stop racing when the GT40 era ended.

I think Penske and SHR should get together to build a couple of cars ( Childress and Hendrick build a couple , then Gibbs and another Toyota team do the same )

Pretty cool that the prototype car wasn't really getting away. If anything the Camaro was gaining slightly right after the exit of the turn.

Now I got some idea what those 65 Cobra Daytona's sounded like. Racing against the Ferraris down the Mulsane at 3am in the rain. They'll be back one day. I thought they weren't going to last through the night. But they finished the race and that's what counts.

@@mescko I doubt there would be much new stuff to learn. I'm pretty sure much of the driveline stuff is already very well known. My thinking was that the brakes would be a potential trouble spot because the car is heavy but in fact, it was the gearbox/transaxle that had a problem. Once again, I'd take a bet that there is plenty of transferrable knowledge and experience from the Corvette, up to the C7, anyway.
